I just bought these 2 items on gmpartsdirect.com I was wondering if anyone knew how long it took to ship and the once shipped how long to get here

It depends, but Daddy is the expert on this. If its a special order Item "*" it could take 2-3 weeks to your door. The gmpartsdirect website has a FAQ that gives answers to the other questions you may have...

I'm far from the expert on this subject but I can tell you that GMPD.com is simply a dealer that orders the parts from GM and then ships them to your door. As is typical at all dealers, sometimes it take them a while to get the parts in and sometimes they already have them in stock. As soon as they ship the item, they will let you know but definitely not sooner.

I have had things from them take 4-5 weeks to be delivered and some take less than one.

It's really up in the air but I can tell you that nine times out of ten they have the best prices so it's worth the wait to me.

I just ordered something from there as well about 2 days ago. Hopefully they'll ship it soon as I haven't received an email saying it has been shipped...

I also order my fog lamp kit and dic from gmpartsdirect.com last tuesday (17) and I received them yesterday.

While we are on this subject of fog lights. I just got done installing them on my ride tonight. The dealer charges 94 bucks an hour to do work. They said they would charge an hour to flash my computer (said it HAD to be done) and 2 to 3 hours for install. The way I look at it I just saved myself up to 400 bucks. It only took me an hour to do the install and I did NOT have to flash my computer. Why is it that the dealer says you HAVE to flash it??? I don't understand this when it shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Oh yeah and I ordered my DIC yesterday. Here's hoping for a speedy shipment.

The way I look at it I just saved myself up to 400 bucks. It only took me an hour to do the install and I did NOT have to flash my computer. Why is it that the dealer says you HAVE to flash it??? I don't understand this when it shouldn't have anything to do with it.

I don't know about your specific vehicle...

But the way I have seen "factory" fog lights operate is they will turn on when the low beam headlights are on, but will turn off when the brights are on.

And I've seen every electrical load you can imagine be also routed to the engine computer. The reason for this is to "notify" the computer that an additional load is being placed on the engine and the computer can then add a bit more power to the engine.

One set of lights is not going to be a biggie, but when you have A/C going, cab fan on high, and headlights on, then good to add more power to the engine.

So that's all I can think of. Perhaps the fog light connection would need to be "turned on" for the computer to recognize it? (And then add a bit more power to the engine.) Or perhaps the switching off of the fog lights when the brights are on is somehow controlled by the computer?

One other thing might be an instrument cluster "fog lights on indicator" and this might not work unless it is enabled by the computer?

Sort of like how access to channels or features is controlled by the cable TV companies - they need to "turn it on" for it to work.

I guess I could see the power issue but the indicator light came on as soon as I turned the fog lights on.

I checked this morning and it said in process. Not sure what that means cause yesterday it said on order. Hopefully I'll see it soon, I think someone in an earlier post said it took 11 days to get his.
