Banks Monster Exhaust?

Anyone using a Banks Monster Exhaust system on their 5.3L V8 truck? If so, how do you like it overall? I'm starting to look around at cat-back exhaust systems and since I just finished installing a Banks Ram-Air CAI I thought I might try their Monster Exhaust kit. I'm not looking for a loud exhaust that will wake the neighbors or prevent me from carrying on a conversation in the cab while I'm cruising down the highway. I'm after a nice aggressive V8 exhaust tone while accelerating, but tame while cruising in OD. I'm not locked into the Banks exhaust just yet, so I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

No, Banks' stuff is pretty pricey...I'm happy with my MBRP exhaust, much better than the flowmasters.

no one that I know of has a banks exhaust on their gas truck. Most people will lean towards Corsa (pretty expensive), Magnaflow (less expensive in comparison), and flowmaster.

Flowmaster is generally the loudest, but that depends on which muffler you get. They are also known to drone inside the cab while you're cruising. If you live in the north where the roads are salted in the winter, its common for these mufflers and systems to rust out in a couple years because they're made of alluminized steel.

Corsa, supposedly (I've never had it) doesn't drone at all, and has a nice agressive sound. All stainless construction makes these durable, but expensive.

Magnaflow gives a nice mellow tone, but some complain it isn't loud enough. Again, all stainless construction makes these a good buy as they are generally about 1/2 the cost of a Corsa.

hope that helps some

good luck

I had a Banks System on my 05 Frontier, I didn't like it at all, removed it after about a month and sold it. Now it may be different on a V8 (the Frontier was a V6), but it had a horrible drone in the cab at highway speeds. Bad enough to drown out the stereo! I would be cautious of the Banks system on the 5.3L with variable cylinder management (V4/V8 Mode) because I have read about other systems with bad drone when the engine is in V4 mode. I do know the GMPP and Corsa systems reportedly don't have the drone in V4 Mode. With you having an 06, this may not be an issue for you.

Personally, I'm satisfied with the sound/performance of the stock exaust, and unless you really wanted the look of dual exhaust, there isn't much difference between the stock exhaust and a single out aftermarket exhaust other than possibly the muffler.
