Heated Mirrors

Well i noticed that the 99-00' Escalades had heated mirrors that are like the mirrors on my truck.

 

i want to get them but where is the button located to turn them on and off?

It's tied into the rear window defroster.

Assuming they're like the 800/900s, the mirror heaters are part of the HVAC controls...no separate switch

They use the rear window defogger switch (IE-When you turn the rear window defogger on/off the heated mirrors turn on/off)

You know to the right of the steering wheel there is like 3 squares made for buttons/ switches

Nope,Its in with the HVAC controls.

nope, part of the HVAC controls...the rear defroster button has a pic of a rectangle (window) with 3 squiggly (is that a word?) lines through it.

 

Does your truck have a rear defroster? Just look at the glass, can you see the lines running horizontally

i guess i will have to put a switch in hopefully it isn't too hard to run the wires through the doors..

On some vehicles I've worked on, the rear window defroster also has a relay and a connection to the engine computer. So if there is existing wiring for this, also look at the wiring diagram for a spot for a relay.

 

The reason for a computer connection would be so it could monitor all the electrical loads and add more power as more things are turned on (headlights, fog lights, A/C, etc.)
