96 CHEVY STARTER ENGAGES GOING DOEN THE ROAD. OR IF YOU TURN KEY TO ON POSITION AFTER MINUTE OR TWO STARTER ENGAGES AND STAYS OWN AFTER MOTOR IS RUNNING. HELP. IS NOT SWITCH ALREADY REPLACED.

Since you've already replaced the ignition switch, that would lead me to believe that your starter solenoid is bad.

Here's where Ford had the better idea... the solenoid for the Ford trucks is located on the inner fender... easy to get to.

Our Chevy/GMC's have solenoids located on the starter itself, meaning you've got to crawl under the truck and get your clothes dirty and your eyes full of falling dirt and such, while you remove and replace the solenoid.

You might want to simply consider replacing the entire starter/solenoid assembly while you're at it.

Good luck.
