4.8, 5.3, 6.0 are all based on the same architecture. Differences are mainly bore and stroke just like the old 5.0 and 5.7 small blocks.

They are generally considered LS engines, but don't have the LS1, LS2, LS3 designation. The old body style (99-06) were Gen III LS1 based engines, the new body style (07+) are all GenIV LS2 based engines. The designations given to the Vortec engines in 1/2 trucks all vary based on displacement, block material, flex-fuel, etc. The 4.8 is only iron block and non-flex fuel so they're LY2, 5.3 has 4; LY5 (iron block, non-flex fuel), LMG (iron block, flex fuel), LH6 (aluminum, non-flex fuel) and LC9 (aluminum block, flex fuel), 6.0 is generally L76, Hybrid 6.0 is LFA, and 6.2 is L9H. Those are just the designations for the 1/2 ton trucks. The HD trucks and van engines can have different ones.
