Bugflector

Today I was driving from WV back to DC and man, I was getting all sorts of bugs on the windshield. I realized that this happens a lot with this truck, good quarter-sized spatters. Does anybody have a bug-deflector? Does it work? What design would be most effective (an aero style or straight style)? I wouldn't mind taking it off in fall and back back on in spring.

Well pretty much all "bug deflectors" todays are just "hood protectors" The way they are shaped/formed/contoured they don't really deflect bugs up and over the windshield like they use to do 15-20 years ago. They just protect the leading edge of the hood.

The only bug-shield I ever had that actually deflected bugs up and over the windshield was on my '83 S10,I was the old flat style Deflecta-Shield brand.

only one now that I can think of is the stampede brand that is actually a deflector. if you do get one that is a deflector be ready to tap the edging around the sides of the windshield as they make a tapping noise due to changed airflow over the vehicle

They cut your fuel mileage as well, I run one this time of the year but not during cold weather.
