New Roof

OK, I got my insurance check in the mail today. I am getting an entire roof replacement, with complete tear off. House is only 11 years old, but was built with cheapass organic Certainteed shingles which are already deteriorating. Last May we had a hailstorm and unbeknownst to me, my roof got quite a bit of hail damage. I had it inspected by 2 different companies (the storm chaser who notified me) and a "2nd opinion", then the insurance co sent out a 3rd party inspector as well.

30 squares of Owens Corning "Duration" 30 year Architectural style shingles. Which should still look like new when I sell this place in 8-10 years.

Best part is it is only costing me $650. ($1000 deductible less the $350 they gave me for doing the shed roof, which doesn't need doing. I can live without it matching perfectly. :nono: ).

Special thanks goes out to Joe (Roofer) for all of his advice. :withstupid:

Hell, I'd a roofed it for a case of ice cold Budweiser :puke:

Yeah, and I can imagine how it would have looked too. :withstupid:

:nono:

Well, anybody that will replace a 30 sq roof for a case of piss-water, must be desperate for work. Besides, aren't you a carpenter?

30 sq is big enough but isn't bad. I consider myself a carpenter but the company I work for does everything from concrete work, framing, roughing in eletrical, HVAC to siding and custom cabnetry. So don't worry about my skills bud.

Besides, why don't you get your fat-ass up there and roof it? Put in a little sweat equity and maybe you'll go down a cup size.

WTF would I do that? To save $650? Yeah, that would be real smart. :D

Besides, I roofed the shed I built myself and that was enough. I hated that part!

No, but I am having them individually wrapped in tinfoil. That way I can be stylish and free from conspiracy.

I think you should mount your bed rails on your roof so you call crawl around up there safely.
