To whom it may concern,

Gemtop steel canopy, GMC white with sliding glass on both sides, 7 years old, currently resides on my 2001 2500HD long bed. You pick up. $100. It is in good shape, my wife wants to haul dirt this summer and I have no place to store it.

Thank you.

It would help if you gave a location maybe  . Or even some pictures would be great

That is an observation tower "growing" out of the top of my truck. The mouth of the Columbia River, on the Oregon (south) side, is a few hundred yards away from the truck.

I hope someone who lives in the north western part of the state would like to buy the canopy. The price is negotiable, downward, to anyone interested. The windows slide open, the headliner is cloth and there is a switched light inside. The tailgate is still on the truck and the window in back swings up and is lockable. The canopy is attached by way of clamps provided by Gemtop with the canopy.

The truck is a work truck (base model, no frills) with locking rear differential (G80), factory hitch and electrical connector and is four wheel drive. The best part is the big block engine (496 C.I.D.). The transmission is an Allison automatic.

aftermarket add-ons include: Pioneer stereo, CD player and I-Pod interface hard wired with an RCA jack. Orion door speakers, Eclipse pillar speakers and a Clarion subwoofer with integral amplifier. Full DynaMat (floor, ceiling, firewall, doors and below the rear window: $1,000 dollars when I was working in Lehi, Utah 3 years ago). Local muffler shop spliced in a 2-in and 1-out MagnaFlow muffler approximately the same length as the stock muffler, sounds like a big block at around 3,000 rpm, sounds "normal" at 2,500 rpm or less, no drone at 65 mph (2,000 rpm) on the interstate. Also purchased the alloy wheels, just taken off a brand new truck, at the local Les Schwab Tire store, only $100 installled for all four wheels, would not want to pay the dealer $500 each. Also got the PIAA air dam/valence and two pairs of PIAA fog lights.

I love my truck and have been somewhat careful about the type of aftermarket add-ons so as to not degrade its value when it is a "classic" in twenty more years. Would like to install the Raylar heads, intake, valve train and cam shaft, but do not have that kind of money.

Never had the cold start knock problem but did have to replace the cam position sensor when I was in Utah. Only problem I've had with 66,000 miles and 8 years of driving. Other than adding a half quart of oil every once in awhile in repsonse to the idiot light warning. Initiallly got about 11 mpg but is consistently getting 12 to 12 1/2 mpg on theinterstate and a little less otherwise. Being a big block, adding oil occasionally is understandable. Driving fast and furious or like an old man (which I am) does not seemingly affect the gas mileage. Good thing because I love to accelerate in this truck.

Anyhow, hope someone living nearby needs a GMC (not Chevy) white long bed canopy.

regards,

Richard

I live in Oregon.

regards,

Richard

If the observation tower was include I would be interested!

The snow picture was taken in the Coast Range in late March. Altitude about 2,500 feet above sea level. Late snow. The canopy can only support 400 pounds on its roof, the tower must way several tons!

For those years, the GMC/Chevy beds were the same...It's only the 07+ NBS did they have the slightly different curves.
