Pulling To The Left

Recommended Posts

Posted

Strangest thing, my truck drove great yesterday, then this morning it started pulling to the left at hwy speed, I drove it most of the day and it never got any better, still pulling to the left.

According to the DIC the tire pressures are normal and within 1 psi of each other.

I did not hit anything, not even a pot hole yesterday, like I said, when I drove it home yesterday, no issue then, wham, as soon as I get on the road this morning I notice the "pulling to the left issue"

Anyone else have this happen?

if the tire pressures are good, swap the front tires left to right and see if it pulls in the other direction. If it does, then one of your tires has a belt separating.

if it continues pulling in the same direction after the tire swap then bring it to a shop so they can check the front end for worn components and an alignment.

:D

Id be careful if the belt is seperating, sometimes it does not take much for it to completely seperate and cause the tire to come apart.

Really sucks if it happens on the interstate. :D

Air Pressure is good in all tires (checked with guage), pull is still there (driven in any direction and road surface), I'm thinking tire problem, I have the Bridgstone Dueler At's, the truck only has 14K or so miles on it.

I have a 1200 mile trip coming up this weekend so I need to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for all the help.

After driving it a few miles, stop and feel the wheels for heat. If you find one is hot(On the side it pulls to), you may have a brake problem. Could be caliper failure or pads broke and dragging on the rotor. After a while the rotor will heat up and expand giving a pull to that side. You may have already did this but I did not see it on your replies. About the only other thing would be a bearing but you should hear and feel a hot wheel hub then also.

Could of course be steering related and that should be checked out if no brake problems.

I had a simular deal once and it was the magnetic steering sensor. They have a steering sensor that is on the colume that tells the steering wheel poss and gives that info to the power steering. My case was a sudden jerk to one side when turning, almost like a sticky steering wheel. Just some thoughts.

Mine pulled a little bit to the left and when they got done fixing it ,it pulled a little bit to the right. It would have to be pulling real bad before I canceled my trip.

Im with him, I had the samething happen to my truck a week after I had an alignment, though I never had it checked out cause the roads here in maine s*ck so I figured it was out of alignment, I put my new tires on and goes straight as an arrow, so im guessing I had a tire messed up cause my air pressures were all good, I would swap them just to see it could be the tire ya never know

I'm with bioguy - if it happened suddenly I would suspect stuck caliper. And like he said, drive for a bit and see if that side is noticeably hotter. Shouldn't take long if that is the culprit.
