Warrentee Or Not

I am doing some research for my dad who just purchases a 04 Colorado with an I5 and 50k miles, other than that I know nothing about the truck. He is looking at purchasing an additional 2 yr warrentee for $1000-1300. I tend to listen to the folks on these forums; I have a Tundra and Mustang and rarely get pointed in the wrong direction when asking for advice. He is in his mid 70s so he wont be pushing the truck but what really goes wrong on these trucks, drivetrain, electrical, suspention.....? Its a bumper to bumper deal.

If he could snag a warranty for 1000, that might not be too bad. Really though, a 50K truck isn't all that likely to break. I would put the money in the bank and save it myself.

Sounds like you got bad advice twice.

 

I'm just kidding with you. I wouldn't buy the warranty, personally. I'd just save back the $1300 and hope nothing goes wrong. Barring something huge going wrong (doubtful with only 50K if he treats it as gently as you imply) $1300 should cover most anything that will likely go wrong over the next two years.

If it were me, I'd save the money to use it on repairs. But that's just me

If it was a Dodge/Chrysler, it would have been money well spent... On the Chev, save it and use it else-where.
