Yet Another Leveling Question

Ladies and Gents,

I realize the leveling kit discussion is a well-beaten dead horse, so I apologize in advance.

I have a 2008 Silverado Z71 4x4 crew cab. It's my very first truck, as I have only owned cars and SUVs prior. Being new to trucks, I am also new to modifications, suspension upgrades, leveling kits, etc.

My baby:

I've since de-badged the entire truck, minus the door panels which I'm planning on having the dealership remove due to fading/chipping. I've also removed the black plastic trim from below the front bumper.

A leveling kit is next up for my truck. In using the search function in this forum and others, it sounds like most truck's rakes are solved by a leveling kit in the 2" range. However for my truck, I've taken the following measurements (ground to top of wheel well):

L Front:36 1/8"

R Front:36 1/8"

L Rear:39"

R Rear:39 1/4"

Is a difference of 3+ inches unusual? What do you guys recommend as an option for leveling my truck?

I see that Rough Country makes a 3" Leveling Lift Kit, is that a viable option?

My truck was sitting at 36.5 in the front and 39.5 in the rear. I added the 2" Rough Country leveling kit. It looks perfect to me. I doubt you would notice a difference, either.

What is the advantage of a leveling kit? I'm a New B to torsion bar suspension and it seems to me that simply cranking them some would do the same thing as reindexed keys. Please advise. 2008 Silverado Z-71

I am curious too, does it affect handling namely Stabilatrac?

You don't have any torsion keys to crank on your 2008 if it's a 1500. Not sure about the 2500s. The leveling kits for yours are lower strut mount extensions. Go check out the RC site for more specific details. I have the 2" RC kit installed on mine and the ride quality is exactly the same as before. I had a mechanic install mine.

Still don't understand why people do this mod? I am a newbie, not saying I disagree with it or anything remotely close, I just honestly don't know why people choose to do it?

Is is a beneficial mod, is it just for looks, what?

Also does this affet your towing/hauling capabilities, does it affect your warranty?

I like the looks of the leveled trucks I have seen on here, just want to know more before I do it myself. Thanks.........Irv
