Tow/haul

Ok, I have a quick/stupid question about tow/haul mode. I read the description in the drivers manual but it didn't quite answer my question. What does it actually do to the tranny? On some trucks it will take it out of ovardrive/turn off the converter lockup and change the shift points. I was playing with it (without towing) and couldn't tell any differences.

Makes it shift a little later aka hold you in gear for longer to keep you higher in the RPM's for longer. If you are talking about your 2000 that is just about all it does. the new 6spds have an engine braking feature built into the T/H button also.

It is almost like having an extra low gear and makes it easier to keep the engine within the power band while towing or hauling a heavy load. I sometimes pull a boat (right at about 2000 lbs) with my '05 V6 3.23 using the tow/haul engaged, and it does a decent job- which surprised the heck out of me, since the truck is not exactly overpowered to begin with.
