Warranty Questions On Gmt-900

Do you guys perform your 24,000 mile tune ups that the dealer pushes for? The reason I ask is because I dont think its necessary and mostly a waist of money. But the fact that I dont know is will this void your warranty if something comes up and you didnt perform EVERY single thing they tell you to throughout the life of your truck.

Ive always run synthetic oil every 4-5k miles since these new trucks say they can go 6-7k before changing the oil. Just wondering about tranny flushes and everything else that goes with these "recommended" tune ups.

I'd do it, but then I'm always the type to opt for changing fluids to fresh more often than is probably necessary. I changed out the differential fluid in both my trucks at 2K miles, did break-in oil changes at 500 and 1500 miles, and I usually do a trans and coolant flush every 20K miles or so.

I guess what it really depends on is if you plan to keep your truck for a long time, or if you're just going to have it a couple of years and trade it for a new one.

worse case scenario, it would help your case if you ever had something major fail. Reason is GM will ask if you preformed/adhered to the regular factory maintenance schedule or not. In this case, if you did, not only could you say "Yes" but you can easily point out that you "babied" the truck and it still failed (thus making GM feel like an ass)...

Yeah the main question is if im going to keep it for a long time. That i have yet to decide. Id like to step up to a 4wd crew cab but its all money.

You don't have to do it. Theres nothing in the warrenty paper work that says your warrenty will be voided if you do not bring the truck in at these mileages... for this work... They can't legally do that. If for some reason you crank bearings fail and you replaced the oil with shitty oil or something thats your problem then they can tell you sorry no warrenty. Also if your tranny goes and you had someone do a tranny flush for you and they replaced it with shitty oil again they can tell you sorry no warrenty. They can not tell you no warrenty if you put aftermarket brakes on and your engine starts knocking or your alternator goes out. It all goes hand in hand. Common sense mostly.
