guys looking at getting a recon led bar..does this plug directly into the round plug harness to the left of the license plate? looks like a regular 4 prong won't go in or does it just look that way??also my manual states that something may have to be done to the fuse box under the hood to connect wires?i have a 08' denali thanks!! and any pics would be great..

Use a 7 to 4 way adapter (the round end plugs into your 7 way on your truck and the LED lights plug into the adapter). I presuming the Recon LED has a standard 4 way plug. If not, then you need to hard wire it in. Does the Recon have reverse lights (White LED's) capability? If so, then one of the other experts need's to chime in. :fume:

Good Luck!!!

yes there is reverse on the one i want..the adapter will prob stick out too much and not look too clean..may hard wire?should the hard wiring be done professionally or is it something that can be done fairly easily without screwing the electrical up?? thanks ...

Most adapters give a pin-out otherwise use a volt-meter or light tester. If you are not comfortable with this, then take it to a hitch installer to do the lights. :fume:

I have same on on my truck. all I did was bought the female plug from Auto Zone and tagged it into the lines going to the 7 Pin plug under my truck. So now i have a plug under my truck for the light and the 7 pin on the bumper still. Took like 20 minutes max.

Note: all the lines to your 7 pin plug have notes on what they are used for too. was easy as pie.

so you spliced the wires before the 7 pin plug in the bumper with a 4 way female plug? ??what are the best type of splice to use?thanks!!

The connector came with the plastic wire splicers and they seemd to work fine. No cutting was done at all to any of the original wiring.

If you don't want to splice into your wires you can pick up an adapter that connects between the wires and the 7-Pin plug in the bumper, it will give you a 4-Pin behind the bumper. I used one on my truck so I didn't have to mess with the wires. Reese makes them and I believe they are called T-One Connectors. When I get home I will see if I can find the model number for you.
