Will Not Crank

2004 2500HD duramax (LB7), allison., 80,000 miles

Yesterday I had driven about 100 miles and needed to stop for fuel. When I went to restart, nothing happened. It doesn't crank at all. Don't know if it made any sounds at all, too much noise at fuel station. The gauges light up and some idiot lights came on, but not sure if all looks as it normally does. The one thing that was wrong was the glow plug light, it just flickers briefly and goes out. Thinking it might be a transmission switch issue I tried cranking it in neutral and all other gear positions, but nothing and I notice the transmission indicator isn't working either. I then resorted to checking fuses. The 40a ignition fuse, ing A, under hood was blown. I switched the blown fuse with the 40a blower fuse ( thinking if it started I could roll down a window for air) and it blew again. Since I had my gooseneck on and was 50 miles from home I had to have it towed to a local repair center.

Any ideas on what to check.

Thanks
