Pete94Silverado Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Took our first trip in the truck after my first round of mods. Drove about 400 miles and ran about 80 mph pretty much the whole time. Pulled down an average of 19.7 MPG. Here's my truck: 2004 Silverado ECSB 5.3L/4L60E/3.42 ~102k Pacesetter LTs/Pacesetter cats/true duals into Magnflow dual in/dual out Summit 8.5 mm wires NGK TR55 This was un-tuned so, I would think that tuned would push me on into the 20's. While this is cool, it also lets me know that I can give up a couple of MPG adding 4.10's to pick up some hauling ability. If I lost a few MPG, I'm still getting better than my old truck and am putting down more power. It's good to see that we can get this kind of mileage in a big truck. -Pete 04Silverado
Pete94Silverado Posted June 15, 2009 Author Posted June 15, 2009 Not bad at all, what tune do you have? That's just it...I don't. I wanted to get it tuned before our trip but...I just didn't have time to create the Autotap logs, send them off and get the tuned ECM back. I'm sure I have an MPG or two on the table...
ukrkoz Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 so, i went to Canada and back, on stock 5.3L engine, no mods, we drove anywhere between 65 and 80 on freeway, got caught some in traffic on the way home. we did 440 miles before light came up, and I had 20 gall refill. you were saying? it's 22mpg, ya know.

What's your gear ratio?

Thanks for proving my point...I would fully expect a stock un-tuned truck (w/3.42s) to get that kind of mileage. But one with mods and un-tuned... I'm very pleased with 19.7. I fully expect to be back up to 20+ with a tune and be pulling down at least 35-40 more horsepower (if not more). Now, throw some 4.10s in there and I'll probably be back down in the high teens but...increase my towing ability.
Sinkhole Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 2WD or 4WD? 2WD That answers it. My truck is 4WD and I get about 18.5-19.5 on the highway. I figured it had to be 2WD
