Alignment 2500 Hd Silverado

2000 2500 HD Silverado regular cab 4X4

Took in for front end alignment at local shop, they adjusted the toe-in but advised they were unable adjust camber/caster due to the fact a special tool is needed to notch the frame as well as an hour and a half of labor.

The truck has been aligned at least two times before, no problem. It sounds a bit far fetched to me, anyone have experience on this??

The shop i took my '99 c2500 reg. cab 4x2 told me the same thing. Although i havnt had it aligned before. When i heard this i thought it was fishy also and didnt have it done. I then looked it up on the internet. From the way i have heard it described the put some type of "key" in the upper a-arms to push them out. to do this they have to punch a area out near/on the a arm bracket. I have heard that GM made them like this so that they would be automaticlly aligned from the factory.

I beleive they said '99 to '03 or '04 ....

This is totally false i have an 01 and just had it done yesterday and they did adjust the caster camber, they gave me a print out of it. I told them about this and they said thats not true at all. I also asked over at the diesl place and again they all have had alignmnets from non dealerships with camber and caster adjusted. Maybe the garages your at just arnt capable and they just say its not able to be done...who knows.

Same here on my 2000. They had to change both and unless it was already punched out, it was not an issue for them.

I have a 1997 Chev Cheyenne C2500 2wd.... My tire guy/mechanic (who provides good service and I trust) did an alignment last year when he put my new TOYO's on the truck.... when I got it back something was not right as it pulled badly to the right.... so I took it back for adjustment and ended up taking it back a number of times... their brand new laser alignment whatever could not get it right and this had them totally baffled..... they knew something was wrong with the alignment (from driving it themselves), and promised they would eventually get it right.... to correct the problem they ended up taking the truck to a Dodge dealer down the street for a quick alignment check using some different kind of equipment... got the measurements and correction requirements, and came back to their shop and adjusted whatever was out of whack.... it's been good since then .... so my conclusion is that some alignment frames just can't do the job for every vehicle....
