madcarpenter Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Yet another question, this time regarding vacume lines. I came across some info on the forum regarding skipping and stumbling on the 5.7 v-8's and one thing to look at seems to be the egr valve. I glanced at mine and followed the vacume line to the egr solenoid. I see that one line runs from the egr to the solenoid. There is a second post on the solenoid that looks to fit a vacume line, but there isn't one there. The engine compartment diagram shows a line from the solenoid that says "vent". Does this mean a vacume line runs to a vent, such as an ac vent or henter vent, or is it simply to vent vacume pressure from the solenoid? If it is a line to a real vent of some kind, where does it hook up? Thanks, Jafo
txab Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Does the solenoid only have the 1 hose connected to it? I would think your second port on the solenoid would go to a vacuum source
madcarpenter Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 That makes sense. I just wonder where to connect a line to...
txab Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Service manual will show vacuum hose routing. There may be a decal under the hood
madcarpenter Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 The haynes manual doesn't show anything. As I stated in my first post, the engine compartment decal/diagram shows a line from the solenoid going to "vent". Thats what I'm trying to figure out
Mike G Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I'll check under the hood of mine this evening for you....
bill190 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 A *GM* factory service manual set would show everything. These are 3 or 4 big "phone book size" books all on one model year and type of vehicle.
madcarpenter Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 I've priced the service manuals. Not gonna happen right now. Can anybody help?
txab Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I'll check under the hood of mine this evening for you.... Why don't you PM Mike G. seems like he might be able to help. Maybe he forgot to look for you.
Mike G Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 I'm still here, too many things in the small space upstairs. I wil check tonight.... --Mike
Mike G Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Looks like just an atmospheric vent, if we are on the same page. Here is a pic, if that works...
