Wait For Backorder From Gmpartsdirect?

Im new to gmpartsdirect, I was hoping anyone with experience could help me out. I ordered a D.I.C. from them a few days ago and I got this reply this morning. I want the part for a long drive im taking mid July, should I wait or cancel and order somewhere else? Does anyone know a stocking distributor?

 

 

MESSAGE FROM THEM:

Part number 19159438 is currently on backorder with GM and GM does not

have an ETA for the part to be released off backorder. We can cancel

your order or we can continue to wait for the part to arrive to us and

ship the order at that time.

I got a similar message from them when I ordered my navigation unit a few months back. It did take about 3 1/2 weeks for the shipment to arrive but I finally got it. I did call them and they told me that the GM suppliers seldom give them notice when an item is backordered or how long it will take. "gmpartsdirect" is merely a regular GM dealership in Winston Salem, North Carolina called FLOW GM AUTO CENTER that does a huge online sales business. If you want the part sooner, check around on the web, there are other on-line stores that may have the part in stock. I have heard that GM parts are getting hard to find with this bankruptcy thing so good luck...

I had the same issue with the brake light switch 25991704 from a dealership and GMPD. Who knows if that'll ever happen.

I cancelled my order from gmpartsonline when they told me that it was on indefinite backorder. I gave a call to the folks at https://www.partszoneonline.com/ on Thursday and they said they could get the DIC panel. Got an email from UPS this afternoon that a box is on the way from them (I assume with the panel in it ). Price was about the same...
