Door Trouble

My dads 03 silverado has doors for the extended cab. Today he went to open the door on the drivers side and it won't release. Is there a simple fix to this? Maybe just taking the handle off and pulling the latch then putting it back the way its supposed to be?

my guess would be it is similar to the tailgate handle, you'll have to remove the door handle, find the metal rod that releases the latch and pull on it to get the door to open. most likely the little plastic piece that holds the rod into the handle broke and will need to be replaced. thats what happened with the tailgate on my '00 silvy. and it was a simple fix after i got the part from GM

i have the same issue. Took the handle off and found the upper rod going to the latch is broken off at the latch not the handle. Any ideas on how to get the door open to get the panel off to get at the upper latch??? I can't see any way to get it done?
