Hello all,

My first post here so be gentle :rollin:

My girlfriend and I bought a 88 Sierra 4x4 a few months ago and need to replace the tires on it. Right now it has LT 235/85 R16 on it. This is a bush truck and we endup in some pretty extreme stuff. We need a very aggresive tread and if possible would like to add a bit of lift by increasing the height of the tires. I don't really want to shell out dough for different rims if possible. I just am not sure how much taller on tires we can go with this truck.

Also i talked to a mechanic that has the same truck and he said you actually lose clearance under the front end with these trucks if you put a lift on because of the cross brace they use. So pointless to lift it?

To a point, think about tire size that can be cleared. Once the difference in size has over come the low hanging bar then you will get more clearance. think of it this way, lets say you have 8" now, after the lift you have 7.5" then install a 5" bigger tire then your gonna get 2.5" more clearance from the tire difference that you can now clear. giving you 10"'s of clearance.
