Water In The Transmission Yay!

My transmission developed torque convertor shudder 3 months ago. So we parked it. I had it checked out by a local chain transmission shop. They gave me some very generic reason and said it need a full rebuild. So we saved some money up and took to another place and had them pull some parts out for a better explanation. Found water in the filter! Completely trashed the entire trans. Couldn't we have put a 10 cent oring in there GM!

Come to find out there is a TSB about this. Water leaks from the cowl and drips down into your trans dipstick, ins't that nice. Now I have a $10,000 rolling storage unit in the driveway. WHat a piece of garbage!!!!. This on top of the issues it has including, leaking rear main, top end ticking, pass airbag broken, broken TPMS, broken oil pressure gauge, broken seat levers, broken power seat, etc,etc,etc. Whats next. I guess if I park it, it won't break. Not likely though, I'm sure something else might break while its parked.

I dont mean to add insult to injury but that is common for the 03-06 suburban...not the best thing released from GM. I handled many cases involving the TPMS system, dash peeling, watery transmissions, clusters dying, ABS sensors malfunctioning, ticking engines, etc. It is as if Chevy/GM simply found the crappiest OEM suppliers and started using parts from them to assemble vehicles....

If the correct trans dipstick is in your vehicle it has a sealing stopper on the stick that must be flipped tight and no water can get in the transmission. The only other way water can get into the transmission is going through deep water by way of the vent tube.

I don't think it is quite that bad.... BUT... it is inexcusable that this type of quality management continued for so many years... so whether it was water in the transmission, leaky intake manifold gaskets,... or whatever weak point your vehicle is know for and that GM perpetuated.... WE ALL had something to do with letting GM (and other domestic and import car makers) think it was excusable to keep this kind of thing up for so long..... after all we kept buying the stuff they were pushing out on the market.

Now we will see in our new economic climate which car makers respond with quality innovations to meet the needs of vehicle users.

I don't think it is quite that bad.... yeah well I would get laughed off the phone when I called the supplier's management teams. You are quite correct on your point of us continuing to purchase these vehicles. I just had the unfortuate job of being between the customer complaints and no good OEM suppliers... GM management did give me the authority to do what was necessary to appease the customer but I felt that was not enough sometimes.
