Avalanche Window Trim Cracked And Rim Scratched

It was over 100 degrees here in NorthEast Florida a few weeks ago and finally I got a chance to wash my truck. Anyway, I saw this 1/4 inch gap on the rear window trim and thought it was odd. I looked at the inside and sure enough, its cracked. :P Now, I did some research and find its a common problem since the original design in 2002. Why GM hasn't redesign it with a metal trim instead of the cheap plastic is beyond me.

Anyway, I also found some scratches on one of my wheels. Its weird, they are polished aluminum (no clear coat) and have never been removed since I drove off the dealer. There are 4 spots on the same wheel. It feels smooth and some feels like a small bubble. Could there be a defect but I don't see how aluminum can go bad? Anyway, I will need to bring it in and I was thinking if its worth trying to polish it out? Its minor and not sure if the dealer will do anything.

Anyway, sorry about the pictures. I have a car cover on and the lighting wasn't right.
