2006 Gmc Starting Issues

My son owns a 2006 Chevy Silverado and every once in a while it refuses to start. He has taken it in under warranty 3 times now and they have found nothing wrong. He has also replaced the battery.

Every thing turns on when he inserts the key, but it will not start. Sometimes it starts then dies right away. This morning it took him 20 min before he could start it.

Suggestions?

I bet the start and die right away thing has something to do with the ignition security module... Have him try another key (one that came from the factory, not a spare cut key)

See if that helps?

Also, you could try to disconnect the battery for 20 min (or disconnect it and touch both battery cables together) then reconnect and see if that helps by doing a computer reset..

Took it back for the third time and threatened the lemon law.

Guess what....they found the problem. It was a faulty ignition switch and it was covered under the warranty.

Thanks everyone!
