Remote Start?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I had the remote start added about 1 month ago. Today I noticed the air conditioner did not come on when I used the remote start this was the first time I used the remote start with the air conditioner left on. When I inserted the key and turned the ignition on the air conditioner came on. Is this normal? I should also check to see if the heat is doing this also..... 2008 Silverado LT.

Thanx in advance,

Matt

The factory remote start decides whether or not to run the A/C or heat based on its reading of the ambient interior temperature - it has absolutely nothing to do with whether the A/C or heat was left on when you shut the truck off.

My bet is the interior temperature of your truck was either in a range that didn't require A/C or heat, or the temp sensor the system uses is faulty. I'd check those first.

Your probably right with the sensor because it was 90 degrees. It should have come on. The truck sat for about 4 hours in the heat!!

Thanx,

Do you have the automatic climate control system? Remote Start with the automatic climate control system will operate the HVAC system and set it based on the outside air temps. It does this regardles of what the climate control system was at when the engine wat shut off.

If it doesn't have the auto system, Remote Start will use the last setting when the engine was shut off. So if you had turned the A/C off, it won't start until you turn the ignition switch to ON and hit the A/C button.

Now, you have me wondering if that is what I did turned it off and then turned the air back on after the truck was off. I'll have to check it again in the morning.. I have the manual controls..

Thanx,

Matt
