Starting Problem

Recommended Posts

I've had my truck for 6 months now and more times than not it takes atleast 2 cranks for it to start. I've tested the battery and the alternator and they're both fine. I've noticed that it's worse during the day, especially on hot days - at night or early mornings it starts better. Any ideas?

the first thing I would check is your fuel pump pressure.... I don't know what the spec pressure range for your 2003 truck would be, but what you haved explained is very typical of engines and injector systems with a failing fuel pump...

on my 97 Vortec engine, the fuel pump pressure needs to be 61 to 66 psi for the injector poppet valves to work properly..... check somewhere for the spec on your 2003, and check your fuel pressure....

I agree, definately the fuel pump. Replace the complete module.

Thanks guys, I'll get it checked out this weekend and let ya know what I find.
