Pump Growl And Whooing

okay, new member old reformed hacker.

I have two issues.

First, 6 months into a rebuilt 4l60E in my 2000 1500 2wd sierra and I have a WuuuuOOOOOOOOOOOING sound when accelerating in first gear. Not a whine or a whir, but a wuuuuuooooooo. Any ideas? The trans was rebuilt by a shop a friend with a long time shop uses. The rebuild guy was supported by all my older friends, some farmers. I truct their choices.

2nd, PS pump.

On cold start up, I get a growl. It happens when the temperature dips below thirty and I and origionally had written it off to a starter solenoid sticking cold. Now does it with a whine from under the hood. Last night I sucked the fluid from the reservoir with a vacuum pump and replaced it. It changed the tone of the noise and returned it to a chirp/whine. I am going to try changing the fluid again tomorrow when the temperatures are above freezing. I have checked under the hood with the old screwdriver and found it louder by the idler pulley but the growl sound like a bad P/S pump.

Before I hear about a motor mount, the motor does not move when brakes on and in drive and the throttle blipped.

The sound ounder the hood quiets after a short time of running. I have gotten a new idler pulley and will change that tomorrow as well. The Goodyear gator belt on the motor is less than a year old and does not seem to have any real wear. I have yet to check the damper pulley as I do Have the dreaded LS 5.3 witht he piston slap issue. I am also using Royal purple in the motor.

Any help would be great. Thanks

new info.

growl onstart up disappeared after suck and change last weekend. It started again today with the very cold temp and the snow up here in NJ.

The other sound is front drive related, meaning it is converter forward on the drivetrain. No idea as of yet.

The pump still makes some noise, but now growl. only a whine when the steering wheel is turned.
