Control Arms!

Hey Guys. I have a 97' K3500, 4x4. I have to replace the upper control arm bushings. Now I have built alot of jeeps with custom suspentions, however, those were jeeps. I am not looking to add any lift to this truck, just repair it. But I am not 100% sure how to start this project. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. ( by the way, I do not play with jeeps anymore.).

There is a bit involved to get that done correctly. First, while you're there, definately inspect the other bushings and front suspension components and get those done at the same time if they are starting to get worn. You'll probably want to find a shop that can do the bushings for you since that can be rather difficult. You'd just take the control arm assembly and let them use their special equipment. Saves a whole lot of time and work.

And if you've never taken that stuff appart, I'd also suggest visiting your local parts store and pickup a helms manual or something similar. Air tools are a plus, but still doable without.

Thanks for the advise. I am willing to do it myself, just not sure when ( repair shop wants $500.00 to do it ). I will be picking up a manual as you suggested. I guess my hang up is the torsion bars. Never had to play with them before, but the only way I learn is to do it myself. I have the appropriate air tools to do the job, just need direction.
