Temperature Mirror Question...

Recommended Posts

Hello, I recently bought a GMC Sierra 2002 Crew Cab 6.0L 4x4

I noticed that it has OnStar System on the mirror, Compass and Temperature too...

The compass works fine, but the temperature is always on 0* ... What I need to check ?

BTW, How works the OnStar System, because I press the buttons but nothing happens... (The truck has an aftermarket Radio)

Thanks...

On the On-Star,Its not going to work,Your truck has analog system hardware, starting this year all the On-Star systems require digital system hardware.

There are upgrade kits available but only for '03-up vehicles.

Heres a bulletin on this......

 nor way... hehehe thank you very much for the answer about the OnStar ...

What about the Mirror Temperature ?

Sounds like your outside temp sensor is bad. You can replace it easily. It sits just behind the grille.

My guess from what I've seen here at the dealership,Its probably the temperature sensor thats bad.

I went to the dealer, and the catalog (computer) shows 2 Temperature Sensors, one below the right corner light, and one more on the radiador support just next to the oil cooler....

How to know which to change ??

For the 2002 Ambient Air Sensor:

thank you very much M. Cueva for the answer... this procedure is very helpful... I went to the dealer looking for this ambient Air Sensor, but the front desk guy Found another one... In the same picture that you show, but in the left corner is another Temperature Ambient Sensor (for the catalog reference has the number 7 while the gray one that you show on the picture has the number 1)

I found this picture on the web to show you the other sensor...This is another Chevrolet vehicle, but the sensor is identical... Yesterday I returned to my home to check my truck and I found the other sensor... Look it:

I understand according with your answer that I need to change the grille ambient air sensor... But I want to know then what is the function of the other ambient Air sensor...

thanks
