One Screwed Up Electrical Problem!

So, I just got this truck about 2 months ago. Have already put new tranny and transfer case in. When I got it, the guy told me he had problems with the tail light acting funny. Fast forward to now. Sometimes my blinkers just stay on if I try to use them. Other times my speedometer won't work. Sometimes my battery guage don't work. Sometimes my brake light is on in the dash. (usually this is when the speedo isn't working, which also triggers my SES light) I did notice the other day, that the fuse block under the dash has some wiggle to it, and when I moved it, I noticed that my speedo jumped. Hmmmmm. So tmrw I am off work, and planning on getting in there to take a look. But, what in the world would cause different items to have problems at different times. I can see if everything all at once. Heck, sometimes my windshield wipers don't work, and neither will my cruise control. I'm no electrical guru, but, in my mind, something is weird. Anybody else experience anything like this?

Sorry, forgot. it's an 88 K1500

Electrical gremlins are a bitch. All you can do is keep looking around til you find a problem. If its an intermitent problem, it will make it even that much harder to find. Go look at every ground point you can find in the harness and check them, make sure they arent loose and/or corroded. Also keep wiggling the harness along the way and see if it acts up. If you find a certain spot that you wiggle and your problems keep starting, thats a good area to investigate further.

Where did you get your truck from? Was it ever registered in an area that flooded? Clear or Salvage title?

Checking the grounds is a good place to start. Next, think what all the things acting weird have in common (same harness?) and go from there. Perhaps its a power supply issue...? Next time it happens see if you can catch it and hook up a multimeter...

i had similar problems on my old silverado. turned out to be the trailer wiring T. i took the trailer wire harness out and plugged the two back together and took care of all the problems
