  1. Update no. 2 Performing as advertised, I drop the TM down to 50%, now a firm shift with out the feeling of someone hitting the truck with a sledge hammer.
  2. I wash and wax my muscle truck after I took the photo for the other ride section. Then it rained. I thought it looked ignored.
  3. Up date, the programmer is working as advertised. Im getting more of a old time feel out of the pedal now, I don't seem to have to wait for a response, you hit it, you go. The same goes for the transmission no hunting, hits hard at 75% Im going to try 100% at some time its almost chirping the tires now.
  4. Ok, so it was me, I thought it was plus 40 on the top end. If I held the button a little longer it would have kept going to the 130 MPH I wanted. First impressions were good. I set the trans at 75% hits good, when I go in for the next oil change I may reduce that will see. Runs up to the 6k red line set now pulls hard there is more there but that's good. I set the gear changes at plus 400 Rpm more, can go to 500, seems fine will drive awhile to see. The V4 waits till 65 as set may turn it off, I like to go a little at a time to get a good feel. Ill do the normal drive for a few days to see how the normal throttle response goes and if the funky tran dance is gone. If I can keep my foot out of it.
  5. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I keep saying I want to sell it but every time someone ask I tell them they are not worthy. If the first sentence out of their month is how much do you want for that old truck, I tell them wrong questing, you cant have it.
  6. I did the outside pic earlier this is what makes it fly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I decided to give Hypertech a shot, this is my third time using their Max Energy. I understand most people say go with a mail order tuner and such because its better. I don't dispute that, but for what I was looking for now this is the way I went. My goal was to have control over the AFM, the TM, and top speed. I run E85 and for the first time in my life im happy with the performance of the engine. When I get bored im sure Ill mess under the hood. Well the first attempt was a bust, the truck wouldn't go over 40 MPH so Ill call the help line when they open. I have used can tuners five times this the first time I have had a problem, updates later.
  8. I can just imagine the connections you have buy reading some of your post. I haven't gotten my hand in as deep as you but I have my fun.
  9. I never had a trans gauge either, just smell the stick, LOL, smells burnt I change it. Must have been a fluke. Of course its log on the computer, so take in and get it check, they are the experts after all. So they tell me.
  10. Only 100 HP, Have fun.
  11. Its already being done in the supercharging industry, its easy money just like extended warranty. A tune adds little HP but it makes the driving experience better. I had one on every GM truck but this one, E85 adds more HP. A good tuner could make a killing, a tune done right does no harm. I have a supercharger on a 22 year old truck with one rebuild on the engine and trans. The only hurt come from people who don't know what they are doing, the warranty would weed then out. Get it.
  12. I don't think any tuner will warranty your engine, just the tune, not enough money in it. I keep waiting for a tuner co. to offer an insurance policy to warranty the engine tuned say for 100 dollars more... anyone listening? Now if you go big tune like a supercharger they offer a warranty few a few dollars more.
  13. Ive done a lot towing in the last 40 years, heavy stuff always over the GVW gas and diesel never saw that. My loads would be so heavy that Id never use over drive and my foot would be planted most of the time. Never overheated. I never had an oil temp gauge either. Seems to me if the water temp is ok every thing else should be fine. I would think the first part to get hot from to much heat or load would be the transmission. When it was extremely hot I would sometimes run just at the red line on water temp for hours on end as long as the water stay in the truck all was well. But like I said I never had an oil temp gauge never lost an engine, but the trans life would be about half but I expected that. O yea AC was always on unless I had to turn the heat on to top a long hill for a little extra engine cooling.
  14. You would think with all the bad press these days GM wouldn't bother someone over a mild tune. To get the funky out of the trans, and to dial out the V4 till after 60 MPH would put a smile on a lot of faces. I don't care what kind of exhaust you have the V4 sucks. Its the truck crazy people who talk and join clubs anyway keep them happy and the word spreads. All the money GM, Ford and Dodge spend in motor sports so we buy their stuff, then tell us we cant do a few mods that's crazy as hell.
  15. I remember not too long ago I got real amp up when I saw a Colorado with a 5.3 in it. It ended up being more expensive than the full size cause it was special. Ended up getting a Trailblazer SS for just a little more. Hope they price them a little better this time. Hell I just realizes that was almost ten years ago.
  16. Thanks, I know C~, MPG MPG MPG MPG MPG , Got it. Teacher can I go home now? MPG MPG MPG
  17. On the freeway its the Texas speed limit, go with the flow or get out the way.
  18. I drive on the hard side and don't speed, don't need to in Texas speed limits are high. Im most often first to leave the light, my lifetime average on E85 and some 93 is 16 MPH. Most would be in town.
  19. Thats an off road vehicle Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Im not a cheer leader for any truck or car co., but now when we come to expect 200k plus miles out of these trucks and performance cars we have to expect some safe guards. I can remember the days we would hope to get 60k out of a ford C6 or a Chevy turbo 400 if we were pulling a camper or what ever. Performance engines 60k, were toast. So today we are getting the power we want all we have to do is do a tune or not, Ill take it.
  21. Its shifts right at red line too, sometimes on the 1-2 shift it bounces the red limiter, pretty cool. I don't go into m6 till after 60, no change in gas millage.
  22. Yes, electric cut off. It doesn't take long to undo three wing nuts. Caution where gloves when hot.
  23. Go to a muffler shop have a y pipe put in front of the muffler run a dual pipe with two exits. Weld header flanges on the tips with wing nuts, wild and mild. You could even run the wild side in front of the rear tire. You don't really have to flange the quiet side, you open the loud side it will just flow that way. Ive done it, its a blast.
