  1. Engine braking + DFM/torque converter clutch modulation
  2. All their acceleration tests are done at over a mile above sea level. The naturally aspirated engines are down 20+% power vs the turbocharged engines. That's why I never understood why they bother doing 0-60 tests because they're so far removed from what the majority of us would see.
  3. Yeah it's a BS move they pulled just to try to nudge people into moving up to an LT Trail Boss.
  4. Brake pad squeal is a common issue die to the materials used in modern brake pads. Especially ceramic brake pads.
  5. 1 quart of oil every 2000 miles is pretty minor for an engine running 0w20. You'll lose up to 10% of oil volume simply due to viscosity modifier cooking off of the oil. In fact, if you aren't losing a small amount of oil between oil changes, it means you have an even bigger problem, as unburned fuel is diluting your engine oil, replacing vaporized oil that left through the PCV system with gasoline. It's a fairly common occurrence these days. Toyota, Honda, and Subaru have all gone on record saying that it's normal for their engines to burn up to 1 quart every 1,200 miles. BMW too. Ford is currently drastically changing their stance on oil consumption. Their Mustang GT350's 5.2L V8 is supposed to burn up to 1 quart of 5W50 every 500 miles. It's right in the owner's manual. Welcome to the lovely world of low tension piston rings and synthetic engine oils with viscosity modifiers and 10-13% NOACK.
  6. The best way to stop brake pad squeal is to put copper anti-seize on the back of the pads where they contact the caliper pistons. Modern ceramic brake pads have a tendency to squeal and is common on everything from a brand new 2019 Ram 1500 to a brand new 2019 Porsche Carrera.
  7. Yep. Lots of guys talk out of their *** about how GM won't do anything about abnormally high oil consumption, but they've consistently updated the oil consumption TSB to cover new models. If you think your GM vehicle is burning more than 1 quart per 2000 miles, you take it into the dealer, have them do an oil consumption test, and if the engine is indeed burning that much oil, repairs will be made under warranty.
  8. There's difference between "relaying" an issue and spamming a forum constantly. Especially when you start telling everyone that their trucks are junk, they're all junk, and "just wait give it time yours is going to fail even if it's working perfectly". Ever since you joined this forum, ALL you have done is trolled and spammed.
  9. Which is why I shared information on the reformulation of Dexron HP. THAT helps people. Guys like you and Benelli, going around repeating over and over "the 8-speed is junk", "your transmission is going to fail give it time", "GM trucks are junk" DO NOT help anyone. All you are doing is trolling this forum day in and day put, every post spreading nothing but FUD aka Fear Uncertainty Doubt. Interesting how you've been on this forum all thos time, yet ALL you ever do is post FUD comments.sure Sure I can. It began when he quoted my post which contained useful information direct from the manufacturer and GM service managers. That quoted information was part of a discussion between GM reps. It wasn't the typical PR garbage, it was a conversation between people servicing the GM 8-speed. Benelli claims it didn't work for his 2017. If it didn't work, GM says the next step is to replace the torque converter because the TCC is likely glazed due to the old Dexron HP fluid. That's also not taking into account the fact that there were design changes made to the 8L90 between the 2017's and the 2019's. I have read some of the documentation on those changes myself. He had no business interjecting his baseless claims and personal opinions into a conversation, acting as if it was a matter of fact. If the fluid didn't fix the problem, GM themselves say that the TC is to be replaced. End of story. It's the same old shit that always comes up on this forum. Somebody had a problem with their truck, so they make it their mission to piss and moan about all GM trucks, telling everyone else that their truck is junk and that "it's just a matter of time", "just wait and see". Well GUESS WHAT. That's the same kind of FUD garbage that guys were telling me when I had my 2014. They said my AC was going to fail, wax fall off the frame, have a steering rack fail, have a computer failure, the brakes were going to warp, the silver paint was going flake off, the fuel injectors were going to fail, it was going to start burning oil, and the rear axle was going to develop "Chevy shake". NOT ONE of those issues ever happened with that truck. WOW I guess I'm just the luckiest M-F***** on the planet! Oh wait, I guess I'm just "wrapped around GM's finger" because I'm not spending my whole day telling everybody their truck is junk and going to fail at any moment.
  10. Like I already said once already. Idiots were saying the same shit 5 years ago when I had a 2014. My truck was solid and reliable. Every single thing guys claimed "all these trucks have this problem" never happened. YOU may have bought a lemon. You are not a snowflake. Just because you had a problem means NOTHING to anyone else. Go pound sand.
  11. Why? Because I haven't had a problem with my trucks? Like I said, idiots said the exact same shit you're saying now. GUESS WHAT. It didn't happen! Not in five years of owning the truck. It started every time, the AC blew cold every time, the brakes worked every time, the transmission worked every time, etc. Get a life.
  12. Steering pump? Show us where the steering pump is on your 2014 Sierra. Sucks to be you if you had those problems with your 2014. GM sold nearly 2 million K2xx half-tons and you lost. Aside from a bad battery and a radiator leak that was replaced free of charge under a TSB, mine was flawless for 5 years. My 2014 had bad shift logic until it was tuned by BBP. My 2019 shifts better than my BBP tuned 2014. Slip yoke clunk is always an issue with a truck with a relatively softly tuned leaf-spring suspension and 1-piece driveshaft. It's only become a "problem" as metros decided to buy their first truck and don't understand something inherent in the design of the truck they bought. The F-150 has gotten the exact same complaint for years for the very same issue.
  13. Right. And trolls like you were saying garbage like that about the 2014's when I had one. They told me my AC was going to go out, the steering rack was going to fail, the wax was going to fall off the frame, etc. When I traded it for my 2019 the AC worked perfectly, the frame had all its wax, and the steering rack still worked like new. Now here you are telling me my transmission has problems with it. Funny, mine doesn't shudder, slam into gears, chuggle, or any other garbage you claim it does. It actually shifts smoother than my buddy's 2019 Ram 1500, which is sitting at the dealer getting a new transmission as I write this.
  14. I haven't had any chuggle or slamming shifts. Shuddering before getting the newest Dexron formulation means nothing because the TCC was designed to handle slip via pulse-width modulation. Even modern transmission slips the TCC. Why exactly are you hanging out in the T1xx section if you own a 2017 truck with an older version of the 8-speed design. Your transmission doesn't even have the latest design updates. Go trade your truck if you don't like it.
  15. There's more than one version of the fluid. If you use the latest version and still have TCC shudder then you're supposed to get a new TC. I know 3 different people with 8-speeds that had their shudder go away and stay away since they got the newest version of Dexron HP.
  16. I would take a K2 or T1 over the 99-04 in a heartbeat. The 800's are faaar from perfection... wimpy 10-bolt rear ends, the same number (if not more) electrical gremlins and bad grounds as any new truck, cheap seats, garbage 4L60e, pump rubbing t-cases, cab corners that would rot out just looking at them, etc. They weren't bad trucks by any means. But there is nothing that those trucks have over the new trucks.
  17. There is absolutely NO reason for a bolt to fall out if it's properly torqued. That's the purpose of providing torque specs for fasteners... so they don't loosen up. Any tech that says such things is covering their own ass by saying it's a common issue. Yeah, it's common... if you don't use a torque wrench or re-use TTY single-use bolts.
  18. I mean, if the dealer you bought the truck from is far away and there's a closer GM dealer that's closer to where you are, you can go to the closest one. You don't have to go to the dealer you bought it from. But it's up to you. If your current dealer is willing to continue trying to find the noise, there's nothing wrong with sticking with them.
  19. For what it's worth, you can go to any GM dealer and have the noise worked on.
  20. Yeah that's an odd one. You would think an SLT should have access to that feature.
  21. Most of the GMC Sierra SLT's with the 5.3 have lower payload capacities. https://www.rydellchev.com/new-Grand+Forks-2019-GMC-Sierra+1500-SLT-3GTU9DED1KG224354

  23. Oops I originally had a 5.3 truck and saw this one at the last minute. He wanted a non Z71 LTZ.
