  1. Why did you have to pull that out? is it part of the Alpine install?
  2. I feel this same vibration that you are experiencing. I want to put a spacer in, I wish belltech gave you one for the 4x4 that didn't consist of stacked washers.
  3. The radios are so easy to get apart in these trucks. I wish they designed new Tahoes the same way
  4. So my tweeter crossovers came in and I got the truck back together tonight. I'll drive it in to work tomorrow and see how everything sounds. When I had my speakers out I decided to check the stock head unit with the SMD DD-1 distortion detector. At 1000hz test tone I got no distortion all the way to max volume For the 40hz tone I boosted the bass up 5 notches because I usually will boost it slightly. My results were no distortion up until the volume bar was to the 'E' in volume. Anything past that showed distortion. I checked at all 4 front speaker locations and got the same results at each one. So I will not listen past that volume until I get the dsp and subs installed and re evaluate. Edit: I want to add this was done at about 12V since I was in the garage and didn't run the truck. might be different at 14.4V
  5. How much room do you think I would need?
  6. Hahaha! I've been using Alpine almost exclusively for 20 years. Here's a picture of some of the older radios I've collected over the years. That amp on the bottom is a class A from the early 90s that's going to be going in my Corvette. Here's the famous 7909J with it's cassette equivalent, 7620J
  7. I want to try the new Alpine DSP. It's a twelve channel with 25w x 8 built in. I figured I could power the tweeters with the 25w and then get a 4 channel amp for the mids and midbass. Or I could use the DSP with an oldschool Alpine 3566 six channel amp sending 30w x 4 to the tweeters and mids, and 60w x 2 to the midbass. https://alpine-usa.com/product/view/advanced-wireless-digital-signal-processor-pxe-0850s
  8. they are passive of the head unit right now, but I want to go 4 way active.
  9. I may try it both ways just to see what happens. I'm still trying to figure out how much power to send the tweeters and mids before anything else.
  10. I'm thinking of removing the carpet on the back wall, damping the wall and rear firing the subs. do you think that would be similar to a down fire setup? I fell like it would be better than firing them into the back of the seat and console.
  11. oh crap, I forgot to write it was a powered sub. They do have a non powered version also that is wired at 2 ohms.
  12. I know. The subs are actually 0.4 ohms each, wired to 0.2 ohms. ACP208LG-W3v3 Amplified Subwoofer System with Dual 8W3v3-0.40 Subwoofer Drivers, Built-In 500W Class D Amplifier, Black Carpet - Ported Enclosure

  13. Nope, copied right from JL's website: Amplifier power: Built-in DCD™ Class D amplifier (500 W @ 0.20 Ω)Nominal Impedance: 0.20 Ω
  14. Do you know there's a new version of that Alpine restyle kit that has Apple Carplay and Android auto? No CD player though and a slightly smaller screen so you can use the stock trim bezel
  15. I bought this JL Microsub about a year ago, because it's compact and fits behind the seats and console perfectly. It's It's a powered sub rated 500w at 1/4 ohm which is kinda crazy. I'll probably be using still unless I decide to go with something with more power.
  16. I was thinking the same thing, putting it in the lower compartment. Not sure how much airflow these new class D amps need though
  17. There's a kit for non Bose with an amp, and a kit with Bose with no amp.
  18. Where do you plan on putting the Amps and Processor? We don't have a lot of room in our trucks
  19. SO your noise was a blown strut?
  20. 2960 miles OK, suspension is all sorted out, time to move on to something else. Next up is the stereo system. I have the I06 radio with UQ3 speakers. Non Bose obviously as it isn't available in regular cab. The stereo upgrades will be done in two phases. Phase one is new speakers and door sound deadening, and phase 2 will be DSP (going 4 way active), amps, subwoofers and cabin sound deadening. So I'm a huge Alpine fan and I've used them almost exclusively in every vehicle I own. I also have a a collection of vintage Alpine radios and amps. So I was excited when they came out with a custom fit speaker system for our trucks. Only problem is I wasn't paying, 1000 bucks for them. A set of woofers and mids with the passive crossovers showed up for sale online for a fraction of the price of the kit, so I grabbed them and added some SPS tweeters I had already. Since I didn't get the custom dash brackets that hold the tweeters, I just flush mounted them into the door trim, which I think looks cleaner anyways. I realized I didn't have any tweeter crossovers so I'll have to wait Until later this week to finish this up. Here's some pics so far: Alpine 8'' woofer next to the stock 6x9 3'' mid next to the stock dash speaker: mounted in place: Tweeter mounted in door. There's a mounting stud and bolt for the mirror in this area. I just cut the stud down to the bolt and had plenty of clearance: Doors. I didn't go crazy with the deadening this time. Usually I will cover the whole inner shell but it's a pain in the butt when I need to get back into the door later to replace window regulators and door actuators. So I made sure all the bolts and nuts weren't covered and the openings were accessible still. The outer panel is covered as well between the door braces. (not shown)
  21. Probably, but that would require effort lol
  22. I wish they gave you that little nut for the upper ball joint
  23. my truck does not lean any more. I have a 10mm ring on the left side strut and no rings on the right side and it's exactly level on both sides. I've just never taken a right out of my driveway with it yet
  24. same here. except I'm on 285/45R22s The only time I get slight rubbing is hard left backing out of my driveway, which goes up a very slight hill on the way out.
