  1. As a fellow RV'er, don't look at the campground. I can assure you every single toy hauler hooked to a diesel 2500 is over payload. If a 5er is in your future, get the 3500 or a new body 2500 with higher payload. My 2019 Gasser does great, but my "Half-Ton" 5th wheel is light on the pin. My payload is 2570#, which isn't horrible, but it's not the 3k+ of the newer trucks. Better to get a bigger truck now so you're good on whatever you want later.
  2. Dumb question because you mentioned KBB and another vehicle that is for sale. You're not comparing retail or private party on KBB to what you were offered as a trade are you? That will most surely NEVER happen. Your best bet if you want to trade is to look at their number, and offer a REASONABLE counter offer. You might get $50k if you put your foot down, but I doubt you'll get anything more. Private sale or Caravana is your best bet if you want more than that for your truck. Context: I asked for $28k for my 2015 6.0L Silverado and didn't hear a peep. "Suggested" $29k and got a "no" (I'm friends with the GM). They sold it for $32k. Dealers make their money on used inventory. I only got the $28k because I know the guy and he knows we take care of our vehicles.
  3. FWIW - I went from a Silverado LT to a Denali by chance. I'd be lying if I didn't say I absolutely LOVE the Denali. It's sooo comfortable and I couldn't believe how different the truck was for being "same" as the Chevy. Some of the features of the digital display are also nice when towing - shows trans temp and brake gain, etc.
  4. Depends on weather. A 16/17 should be in decent condition. We've had a couple mild winters. Even my 2015 with 45k miles was still pretty clean. If truck was cared for properly, should be good. May even be undercoated, which helps in long run I believe.
  5. That doesn't seem ridiculous for a Denali Diesel with less than 100k. You may be able to find a better deal though. Searching Autotrader - you don't have a lot to pick from. After all, everyone touts how diesels hold their value - you're probably going to have to really dig for the good deal. That one looked pretty clean, so might be worth it.
  6. I've had 2 of the 6.0L's and know a number of folks with very high mileage 6.0's - they are a good engine. I very highly doubt you will touch anything in the 2015+ range for $20-25k (at least in our area you won't). Certainly not with at least 100k miles on it - current conditions merit top dollar for used trucks. Rams are very nice - but GM and Ram love to have rusty rockers. Good luck searching!
  7. Nice. Seen this a handful of times. I've seen a few that simply remove tailgate so they don't have to strap it (tailgate) up.
  8. Ha...late to party on this one since you already have it. Love the Andersen. Seriously considering a Reese Goosebox though - then there's nothing to do with truck except turn the ball over. I assume they installed B&W turnover on your truck (unless already equipped)?
  9. Nice 5er. Ours is 9400# dry and 11,500# GVWR, so perfect match for the 6.0L IMO. Do you think CAI was worth investment? We too have the Andersen. Love it. I have been eyeballing the Reese Goosebox, but for now will stick with Andersen. That Sierra is a big girl. You are wise to shop for a diesel, and should go 3500 if you weren't planning on it already.
  10. Tows awesome. Haven't gone on long trip yet, but I expect same mileage as my travel trailer. I averaged 9 MPG with travel trailer, depending on wind/terrain. Last year was uphill in headwind, so I got about 7 for 200 miles... At the end of the day, the 14-15 MPG I'd get with a diesel just doesn't justify the upfront and maintenance expense to me. Even as a daily driver, too wit I average 12-13MPG daily, no dice for a diesel. The gasser is a screamer, but she does a fine job with this unit. If you're looking over the 11-12k mark, go diesel.
  11. Picking up camper in May. Yep - she's a gasser...
  12. Wish it did - the extra 500# would be a nice cushion.
  13. It's not the 20's, it's the diesel... You really can't tow a decently sized 5th wheel with a diesel 2500 - not enough payload. Now the 2020 trucks are a little different because they have a higher GVWR and much better payload when properly equipped. My gas Denali only has a GVWR of 9500#, but my payload is 2560# - 400# more that the higher GVWR/Diesel. Also depends on 5er model - our Cougar 32BHS has a lighter pin weight of 1570#, so were good with stuff/gas and payload.
  14. Nice looking rigs there. I see tailgate down - I have to be like DEAD STRAIGHT or I can't lower it - your's that close?
  15. We just bought a Cougar 5th wheel - it's 9400# empty with GVWR of 11,500. Loaded to take to camp it towed awesome, but I don't think I'd want to be right at the 14k limit of a 2500 Gasser.
  16. Depending on Trim, used may be more than new. RAM is cheaper. I know a few who have them and they are nice trucks (both own gas models). I considered a new Ram, but the GM is just more comfortable. I had a 2015 Sierra 1500, upgraded to a 2015 Silverado 2500 at lease-end. I owned it 2.5 years and traded up to a used 2019 Denali HD. The HD is pricey. But they hold value - after only 2 years I still got more than owed on Silverado for trade-in. I was going to get a new 2500 work truck, but my buddy called when he took Denali on trade. My Silverado had 45k miles and was about out of warranty. Probably should have just kept it - I haven't had any issues with any of my full-size GM trucks.
  17. We have teen driver settings setup in our cars - did something get set with those? Otherwise, no idea. Maybe it was set to auto-volume and now it isn't?
  18. How is it off the line with the 3.73? Can't beat the 4.10 when pulling from a light - but drooling over the 2020's.
  19. Nice rides. Ditto on HD. I had a 2015 Sierra 1500 and upgraded to 2015 2500. Night and day.
  20. Can a moderator "sticky" this thread so I can slobber on my keyboard, trying not to trade my 2015 HD.
  21. Nice to see they changed safety chain hooks on new trucks. I had to put hooks on mine because chains wouldn't fit in it.
  22. 14, 14, and probably 14 ? My "best" was at 17 when I bought truck...it's since changed to like 14. Maybe it's issue with truck, or my driving style, or whatever - but she's a thirsty bitch. I love her anyway.
  23. My guess is it holds 1st gear for low speed/high torque situations - like when you'd use 4L
  24. Keep in mind how much heavier the diesel engine is. It immediately reduces your payload. If you plan on tugging a decent size 5th wheel, you are much better off getting the 1 ton. I've shopped and even my gasser is tight on pin weights/payload.
