2020 AT4 - Cranking fast but not starting.
aragrev7 replied to aragrev7's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
good to know about the CEL on Aero circuit. (Curious how you knew that?). I called Putco and they are sending a relay to prevent 12V feedback into the circuit. At present, everything is disconnected and no logic lock issues. But I’m getting weird starts, such as hiccups or slightly longer turn overs. I even had a moment where I had just jumped in the truck and started it and the locks started rapidly locking and unlocking like a they were in full auto. Haven’t tested the battery load, however it is a new battery this year. Upgraded to an Odyssey 94R AGM for CCA and higher reserve capacity. -
2020 AT4 - Cranking fast but not starting.
aragrev7 replied to aragrev7's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Update 1: - Speaking with tech, he suggests the truck is going into a “logic lock” due to an “unhappy module”. Disconnecting and grounding the electrical appears to be resetting the module. - I will need to produce the fault and tow it in with the error active for him to try and determine which module is causing the issue. -
2020 AT4 46,000 km Bumper-Bumper ended in April 2023. - Engine cranks very fast. - battery at 12.5V+. - Fuelled up. - many codes pop up after trying to crank, but the initial codes can be P062b, P0690, P16B3, P16BF. - occurs intermittently. I can be driving for days or weeks and then suddenly at my destination when I hop back in, no starting. - there is sometimes a bit of a lead up where the cranking takes slightly longer than usual. - when I disconnect the battery and ground the negative for 30 seconds, the truck will start again. - issue has occurred when mods were disconnected too. Electrical Mods: - Putco Freedom Blade with plug harness adapter into tail lights. ACC voltage supplied from aero shutter fuse. - clearance LEDs tapped into marker light (left) fuse. - wireless trailer cam tapped into marker lights (right) fuse. Dealer 1: - diagnose & taped up ECM harness (noticeable wear to wires): ~$500 Dealer 2: - replaced power train harness: ~$500 - dealer 2 suggested replacing lower fuse box as next step. Has anybody had any similar issues? Any advice? Thanks!

favorite tonneau cover for GMC Sierra AT4
aragrev7 replied to Big_Kahuna's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
My favourite has been the Xtang Xceed. - Seamless matte black vinyl covering Aluminum panels. - low profile & Looks great. - 500lbs distributed load on top. - Water tight. - secure, locks with gate. - one hand open. - it’s tri-fold & can secure closed, 2/3 open, and fully open. - full tailgate operation even when covered. I’m moving to a bed rack though, so I’m actually selling mine to make room for something else. But hands down my favourite so far. Retrax XR is next, but so so much more expensive! -
I've been thinking about doing this too. I have molle on the seat backs for my gear, kid stuff, and First aid. I wanted to make something to secure other emergency supplies in the back like the Safe Jack kit. Found some already had a great idea. I have the Undercover Swing Case on one side. Thinking of using this for the other side. Not sure about the front, I might redo my bed from Xceed tonneau & Putco Rails to a Retrax XR (with T-slots) and top it with a Leitner Rack system. More storage!

CV Axle leaking after BDS lift?
aragrev7 replied to aragrev7's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Sorry for the delay. Didn't get a notification. They replaced the CV axles under warranty. The service guy tried to tell me, but noticing the lift kit, that my axles were "way out of spec". I told him to try again and take a look, with the BDS lift & diff drop, my axles are closer to factory spec than with the added AT4 2" factory lift. They offered a one time replacement, but the installers said they would stand by it and challenge the dealer should they give me grief about it again. Does the rough country include a drop to re-align the axles? -
CV Axle leaking after BDS lift?
aragrev7 replied to aragrev7's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
That’s right, the BDS was a full kit with drop. The CV angles were very good. This kit: https://bds-suspension.com/product?kid=1805H I suppose my next question, is what is the fix for the leaking axle, and how would it have happened? Install issue? Bc then the shop should redo it properly. If this is a failure issue, then maybe* dealer will look at under warranty. BDS was adamant that their mod doesn’t break warranty issues for parts not replaced. (Dealer also uses this shop for all their mod work too - they go out of house for mods). -
CV Axle leaking after BDS lift?
aragrev7 replied to aragrev7's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
I had initially driven in 4 auto for the first few thousand km. But had gone to 2WD since (currently at 22000km) because of the issues that have been noted in general and specifically with lift kits. Would the leaks be an issue from the lift kit install? I had chosen the BDS kit because I wanted a neutral angle on the axles vs other cheaper spacer only designs. -
4” BDS lift on 2” 2020 AT4 Custom shop installed. I recently started having a whirring/whine sound when starting off slowly and maintaining a slow crawl. Almost sounds like riding the clutch with a worn throw out bearing. Now since winter I’ve been getting groaning and creaking during the same process but pronounced over uneven surfaces. I suspected the suspension bolts needed tightening. Going underneath to peek, I found that the front CV axle boots appear to be leaking & spraying grease. Maybe they are making the sounds as they start and as they flex. No tears, seems to be leaking at the seam. Same on both sides. What is going on here? Is this the culprit? thanks!

Any of you who installed go through winters? Curious how this holds up with freeze / thaw - water getting under and freezing. Feel like this might just pop off

What Have You Done With Your T1 Today ?????
aragrev7 replied to Sierra Dan's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
It’s by Black Horse Offroad - Armour Bull Bar. Unfortunately at the time, they sold it as compatible with 2019-2020 Sierra, but it certainly was not, at least not for the new body type. Electrical was not plug in play. Also probably due to my AT4 having vertical tow hooks. But! As I do, I cut, ground out, repainted, trimmed plastic, spliced, soldered etc to get it to fit and to relocate the forward parking sensors to the bar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

Sister companies. Zone = entry level. BDS = competitive level. Some differences in my research: - Biggest= the “no fine print warranty” on BDS parts that is not offered by Zone. “BDS stands behind its products and that’s evident by their No Fine Print Warranty. This no-BS warranty protects the original purchaser against breakage, bending, sagging, or any other usage failure. This “no fine print” lifetime replacement warranty extends to cover all BDS hard parts as well as bushings. Exclusions would be product finish and wearable items such as shock/stabilizer cylinders, tie rod ends and ball joints that would fall under the separate Limited Lifetime Warranty policy. Beginning February 1, 2020 all new kit purchases include the No Fine Print Warranty on bushings” https://bds-suspension.com/policies - according to my local BDS dealer, BDS comes with thicker gauge steel on supports/brackets. - UCA should you choose to get appear more refined from BDS (tubular) vs zone (box/angles). - BDS includes extra parts like the skid plate and rear shocks, at least in the packages I’ve seen, where as the zone does not. Once you add those, the cost becomes comparative. This does give you the option of “entry level” with zone as not everyone wants/needs a skid plate or upgraded shocks - if they’re not at risk of smashing the diff etc. What I’ve gathered so far. Probably missing some things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Looking at doing a BDS 4" Lift on my 2020 AT4 5.3 L. Winter set up is OEM 20" wheels with 275/60/20 Blizzaks Summer will likely be Fuel Covert 20x10 (-18) with my OEM Trailrunner ATs 275/60/20. A bit stretched. I'm looking to burn off the OEM Trailrunners before going into a new tire. Only concern is how a BDS 4" lift (apparently 6" vs non-factory lifted Sierra) will look with a 33" tire? Is it going to look alright? Any pics for BDS 4" Lift lift with stock tire size? Thanks!
-
Readylift site should recommend the max tire size if you find the product for your truck. The trail boss will clear larger tires than my AT4 bc of fender shape. I have 20x10; -18 offset and I lightly rub in the front fender along the mud flaps surface. But that’s with a 275/60/20 tire. The rim would be better with a 295+. That would require pulling the mud flap back against the frame. CustomWheeloffset.com helps too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Range DFM Disabler what the big deal
aragrev7 replied to Luckyfd's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I’ve seen several comments about the Auto-Stop light not turning off. From how my other devices work on other brands, that is not how it functions and shouldn’t expect the light to turn off. What they usually do is it “trick” the truck into thinking it is not in the correct state to allow Auto-Stop. For example: - not warmed up to temp threshold, - heavy accessory load, - hood opened before start, -etc. The light doesn’t have to turn off. The Auto-Stop system is still running, just not allowed to activate. (Except in whatever scenario they’re missing because it’s only 99%). // I’ve been waiting for a Range Disabler to come up for my 2020 5.3L 10 speed. When I originally asked about the 10speeds - bc the 6.2L 10 speed says not compatible - I was told the 5.3L 10sp aren’t either. I see now that there has been a filter added that actually says the 5.3L do work. Probably just had a rep that didn’t know, because the compatibility note hasn’t changed. New Quad Exhaust Tips

Very useful info. I might tinker around soon. I wonder what other mods like this you are thinking? I’m interested! I did a lot of these on my Acura back when. One thing I miss is the tailgater switch. Any idea of how to get the reverse lights and/or cargo lamp on while driving? I used to use this with my lowered Acura for people that tailgated. Had mega bright LED reverse bulbs in and they would back right off when I did it. Especially the lifted trucks trying to be cute. [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
