  1. This is from today, 2 weeks since installation
  2. I installed readylift 2.25 rear blocks (# 66-3002) about 2 weeks ago. I can confirm they do have a very slight taper which you install pointing the taper forward. With the U-bolts tightened down, it appears to sit flat & flush against the leaf spring. In the limited amount of driving since then, I haven't noticed any vibrations at all.
  3. Disregard -- installation complete and everything seems fine
  4. My buddy is installing my Eibach pro truck leveling kit on the front, and i'm also doing a Readylift UCA. He just told me the rubber bit on the droop stop is very close to the UCA, limiting its travel. He's suggesting removing the rubber tab to give an extra bit of travel for the UCA Thoughts?
  5. 6 month update Today I changed out the filter at 12,000 kms just to see what was going on. Put a ziplock bag over the filter to catch any fluid, then cut open the cartridge to inspect the filter media. I could see some very fine / small particles between the folds, so it does appear to be working. Of course it's only a 2 year old truck, and a 6 month filter, so I wasn't expecting to find much. More peace of mind than anything. Will extend the next change to 2 years.
  6. About 1 year now and 20,000 kilometers, no issues at all with the setup. The filter only receives fluid when the fluid temp is at or above 82C / 180F so it's safe to say the actual mileage is a fair bit less than 20k due to short drives not reaching those temps. I haven't "flipped the pill" yet in the transmission. Changed out my spin-on filter today (Wix 51269 Hydraulic Filter) and cut open the old one just to see what it looked like. Can't see anything with the naked eye, I guess everything is good, transmission shifts like new.
  7. I have this as well in my 2018 Sierra 1500 with the 6L80E trans.....usually only when it sits outside in freezing temperatures. From 2nd to 3rd gear, feeling of a big "clunk" in the driveshaft...then completely normal from there on. I seriously thought my transmission had exploded the first time I experienced it. I installed a 100W transmission pan heater pad and plug it in for a few hours in the morning when it's freezing out, it usually raises the temp of the trans fluid between 10 - 15 degrees celsius, and combined with remote start 5-10 mins prior to driving, sometimes this has helped reduce the clunk. As the memo above indicates, I never have this issue when the trans fluid is above 30c. A friend who's been a GM tech for 25+ years confirmed it's normal, and nothing to worry about.
  8. MRT used to be a forum sponsor, don't think they are now, but they're showing the front & rears for $381 33-238319 rears 24-238304 fronts
  9. Don't know If Battle Born Offroad is still a sponsor on this site, but I saw they had the 5100 set for something like $406 shipped. code GMTRUCKS Try PM'ing them on here, see if they'll match it
  10. Sorry, not a roof tent, but we did buy a used hybrid trailer last May in preparation for a full summer of camping. It was awesome, did 24 nights in 3 months. 23 foot with triple pop-out tents, loved it. Thinking of selling this Spring and buying a lightweight truck camper, something like a Palomino SS550. Just so long as it doesn't have "Overland" in the name since that adds $20k
  11. No chance. For all the reasons you buy a heavy duty truck, fully electric makes no sense. Same goes with aircraft. Sure, maybe some small light aircraft can run short periods on electric, but it'll never be viable for Boeing/Airbus type operations.
  12. I bought my truck new, without stepping foot on the dealership. Just looked around local dealers for a truck with the color and specs I was interested in. Found 2 nearly identical trucks at different dealers. Starting talking to them by email without giving contact details. Eventually got offers for both, I was able to use each email offer with the opposite dealer (despite "best price" -- can't do any better) as soon as they saw I had a better offer and I told them I was going to the other dealer, all of a sudden a better offer was presented. The key was agreeing to an "out the door price"....I really didn't care what fees they wanted to invent or add on. The confirmed "out the door price" was the only thing going to get me inside the dealership. I got it in writing (email) then gave them my contact info. I was in and out of the dealer in about 90 minutes, paperwork signed and driving away.
  13. Nice lookin truck. I'm always envious when I see a nice 2500 and/or Duramax driving by me in my little 1500. Maybe next truck!
  14. Yes I have similar issues with Summit White paint on my '18 Sierra. I need to get a paint pen in the Spring. Also, the sheet metal seems to be overly prone to dents. Almost like you could push it in with your knuckles! I have 3 dime size dents so far in 2 years. Other than that, it's been a great truck.
  15. Wow that looks great. I guess I didn't realize the 1st notch gives that much height.....really no need to go to the 2nd notch for me. You're right about the massive springs. I'll remove my springs & struts from the truck, then I'm paying a friend to swap them over in his garage. He has heavy duty spring compressors, whereas I just have smaller compressors. Plus I'm chicken.
  16. I'd keep looking. You'd own that "incident record" for the life of your truck. If you ever wanted to sell it, you'd have a harder time. IMHO the price isn't low enough to consider this a deal to put up with the future hassles.
  17. Here I was hoping it'd be the crappy Goodyear Fortitude tires that came new on the truck
  18. Looks great! Do you have any pictures of the truck since installation? Did you use the 2nd notch? I'm doing this exact Eibach upgrade in a couple weeks.
  19. Anyone know for sure if the 17 and 18 models are excluded from this TSB? I see it's dated January 2019. https://www.tsbsearch.com/GMC/PI1513F
  20. I kept my factory wheels, and bought an identical set to run my winter tires. Only cause I really like these UHN wheels. I like having my winter tires on rims that I can access anytime. First snowfall of the season up North, the tire shops are backed out the door for days on end. Super easy just to throw them on myself without waiting.
  21. Don't forget, "Dexos" is a GM licensing system. Companies need to pay GM to have their oil branded as Dexos approved. GM makes money from these licenses. I wouldn't worry the slightest about a name-brand oil that lacks the Dexos label. https://dexosesubmission.org/
  22. Awesome to hear! I just passed 48000 (kms) on my 2018 since new, not a single issue. I've got a remote trans filter and remote coolant filter. Hoping to add an oil bypass filter soon, going for million miler status ?
  23. Would anyone around Calgary be interested in the GM 23176881 underbody skid plate kit? Fits most GM gasoline 2015-2020 V8 trucks & SUVs It's a heavy duty aluminum kit that replaces the cheap plastic guard under your engine, and includes the diff protector as well. 2 piece front skid, 1 piece diff protector, and bag of bolts. Brand new, in the factory box, never installed. I have 2 of the complete kits available. $130 CDN -- check around on Ebay, the Canadian GM wholesale websites, this is $100 cheaper than the lowest price I could find online. Shoot me a message on GM-Trucks
