  1. Sucks that this happened. The water must have been pushed pretty good up into the intake system for it to pass through the panel air filter and make it's way into the engine. The only thing is to make your own snorkel set up some how or block off where it gets the air from in front and have it only get it from high inside the engine compartment. Not ideal but if you do this kind of driving then that would be what it would take I guess.
  2. The receiver/dryer is something that always gets changed when ever you open up the AC system. Just good practice since it is what keeps the system clean and dry.
  3. Unfortunately it is a gamble on these. Our 2016 Suburban 6L80 went at 82k. I swapped the fluid over to AMSOIL in the beginning when we purchased it new and then changed the fluid and filter out at 50K and it was clean and pink. I even installed the lower temp GM thermostat. I sent a sample off to get analyzed and the fluid was perfect and in specification. The issue is the TC and AFM. They are the downfall to this transmission. If you can disable AFM that will help. Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones and never have an issue. I thought I was being proactive but it didn't stop the faulty TC from going out. The shop that rebuilt ours said they get two in a day at times for a rebuild and the mileage varies from 40k up to 150k.
  4. Like txab stated 75w-90 is what you want. The Easy Packs are sweet. Yes the gasket is reusable. You will need 3qts. It will not take it all just to let you know. If you are interested and what a quote delivered to your door let me know.
  5. Truston, the used oil analysis is something to have done to see how your vehicle is operating. It isn't specific to oil brand. It will show however how that specific oil is doing inside your engine. These direct injection engines are known for fuel dilutions. This can effect the oils ability to protect your engine. A used oil analysis can also pick up issues that can cause long term problems before they start. It does not matter where you live. You can contact me that you want to get a UOA and I will send you a kit. Basically a bottle and data sheet that you fill out and when you either change your oil or just pull a sample from the dipstick tube with a sampling vacuum pump that you can purchase online or at AMSOIL. Then you send the oil sample to the laboratory and I get the results and send them back to you with notes on how the sample turned out. Looking forward to hearing from you.
  6. Our daughter just got a Kia Sportage and you can do the same thing. Pretty cool. You can also set the turn signal to blink either, 3 or 5 or 7 times when you just bump it. I wish my truck did that. I don't think 3 flashes is enough when passing and changing lanes. 7 would be preferred.
  7. So $1,500 for three years? That is $42 a month. The more these vehicles get technical the more things can be charged. Like BMW charging customers a monthly fee to use the heated seats. You don't pay it then that option will not work.
  8. If they want to sell you a truck, they will let you take it home for a test fit.
  9. We were getting rain every day for three weeks straight to an average of 3 to 4 inches by weeks end. But have not gotten much in the past two weeks. Storms all around us but seem to fizzle out by the time they get over our house. This house we bought has a sprinkler system that has it's own well. From what I was told it is only 40 feet down. Water table here is high. So the cost is to run the pump three days a week for about an hour. I adjusted all the sprinkler heads to stay off things but the wind moves some and now my one area of white lattice is brown from the iron in the water. Going to try some of the iron remover that you use on vehicles to see if that will take it off. I did use Iron out but you have to work that in with a sponge. I'm more on the lazy side and if I can just spray and it comes off, it's a better option to me.
  10. Super happy to have found a place here in town that has E85. It is a mom and pop store that has Citco. I posted about it on Facebook in the Cars & Coffee section and got a ton of angry replies. Seems they didn't want it to get out to the general public. Most were modded rice burners that are boosted that run it. One even tested it a few times and said it was reading at 75 to 80 at times, which is great. It's cost a week ago was $3.75 and regular is still at $4.05 here but just 20 miles up the road it is $3.44. Go figure.
  11. Mike, If you are interested in getting a used oil analysis with me. PM me what you are interested in and we can go from there.
  12. That is what is great about this site. It does have some useful information.
  13. Not a hand held but Black Bear Performance that tuned my 2002 Silverado with the 5.3 an 4L60 made a nice difference. Was it worth the cost. To me it was, just in the way the truck operated and felt on regular driving and towing our 4Klbs trailer. Just an option. I also think that the tuning with the transmission also helped it last. Over 200k on it before I sold it with no issues.
  14. Here gas is still $4.24 a gallon and just up the road about 30 miles it s $3.75.
  15. Sounds like it wasn't installed correctly. Most that install it see temps 150 or below.
  16. The fluid should be changed on a regular basis. Most don't bother but to me it should be done just like changing your engine oil. I like to use a quality synthetic like AMSOIL and change it out every 50k miles. Since you used what the dealer puts in then changing it every 48,000km would be good.
  17. I sprayed my waxed frame with AMSOIL's Heavy-Duty Metal Protector and it has been two days now and the wax coating is the same as before I sprayed it. It doesn't effect the factory coating. Just wanted to let you know.
  18. To me it is a part quality issue. Remember, the lowest bidder gets the contract so not much is invested in the product. No reason these should be trashing lifters and such with as little as 1,000 miles on the vehicle.
  19. I haven't had any customers that used it have any problems but can see your concern. I'll spray it on my 2019 wax frame and see what happens. I don't need it down here in southern part of NC like the north does.
  20. You can do all that or just hit it with AMSOIL's Heavy-Duty Metal Protector. Just spray it on the exposed metal where the wax came off and you are good to go. Do this at least every fall and spring if needed. It will not effect the factory wax coating. AMSOIL  Heavy-Duty Metal Protector
  21. It take 16.7 qts or just over 4 gallons. You can find the information here.
  22. To each their own but I change my air filter out every 15k. I just go to Walmart or check Amazon for the least expensive one. My UOA's show no issues in that regard.
  23. Drop in some time and keep us posted on how you like the Ram.
  24. I would agree 6 months minimum, especially if it is fully optioned out.
