  1. College students in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, have been throwing parties in which they invite people infected with the coronavirus and gamble on who comes down with the illness first, city officials say. Tuscaloosa City Councilor Sonya McKinstry told ABC News about the practice on Wednesday. The city's fire chief, Randy Smith, first reported the parties at a meeting on Tuesday, according to WBMA. Smith said the fire service had received reports of students throwing parties and inviting "known positives" but initially thought it was a rumor. "Not only did the doctor's offices help confirm it, but the state confirmed they had the same information," Smith said, according to WBMA. McKinstry went into more detail about the parties Wednesday, telling ABC News that not only were these parties with the infected taking place, but attendees were also gambling on who would get sick next. "They put money in a pot and they try to get COVID. Whoever gets COVID first gets the pot," she said. "It makes no sense." Officials did not say which college the students attend. The largest school based in Tuscaloosa is the University of Alabama. In March, the University of Alabama canceled in-person classes and spring commencement to curb the spread of the coronavirus. It plans to reopen the campus for some in-person classes in the fall, however, according to the school's website. McKinstry said authorities were trying to break up any parties they heard of — a challenging task. "It's nonsense," she said. "But I think when you're dealing with the mind frame of people who are intentionally doing stuff like that and they're spreading it intentionally, how can you truly fight something that people are constantly trying to promote?" Alabama residents are under an order to quarantine for 14 days if they test positive for the coronavirus. Breaking that quarantine can incur a fine up to $500. As of Thursday, the state had confirmed more than 38,000 cases, including 2,049 in Tuscaloosa County. More than 2,800 people have been hospitalized with infections and 947 have died, according to state figures. Health authorities have warned that intensive-care-unit beds might run out in the state. Dr. Don Williamson, a doctor with Alabama's Hospital Association, told WBMA last week that 82% of ICU beds in the state were full.
  2. Just use one of these in the appropriate size. Oil drain plug gasket
  3. Looks like you're running a copper plug. I'd change it, especially if this is new to you. They are very inexpensive What's this on?
  4. That can have an effect, if the air passages are blocked
  5. Dealer could have easily overfilled, since they may be using oil in bulk containers and pumping it in. The "tech" may have just messed up. Change it your self and put 8 qts in and look at the stick. Your 6.75 was incorrect
  6. I wished I had not clicked on this thread.....
  7. Any vehicle that uses the low beam for DRLs, the Silverstar Ultras don't last long. They only have so much burn life to them. I tried them in a 900 series and required replacement earlier than I would've liked. They will last on the older GMT 800 series or vehicles that don't use them for DRL.

  9. Have you checked the MAF connections or at least cleaned it with the correct cleaner? A replacement may be in your future
  10. Check for codes. Sounds like a fuel pump issue. I had similar, I couldn't go above about 40-45 mph. Swapped pump, all was well. Checking fuel pressure will probably be required at some point, especially when it will only run at 20 mph. Codes first though
  11. Thanks
  12. Our church is small enough, it won't be a problem for people to distance themselves from others. Main thing is, stay away from the hugging and handshaking. When I'm in town, I've always had hand sanitizer with me to use after shaking hands. My wife got me in the habit of the sanitizer long ago. Have to say she never caught a cold or the flu in all the time we were together, took a brain aneurysm to get her.
  13. It's not what you may say, it's often what you quote from someone else. If you quote something that has to be removed, then your response is generally removed as well. Understand? I had a minute and have edited some posts and they've been restored. Common courtesy of not calling names is usually pretty easy thing to do.
  14. Which is a good idea, other things to discuss besides Covid. This thread will stay live through Memorial Day
  15. This thread is a pain in the ass to moderate. Y'all call each other names, then somebody runs off and reports that someone is name calling. Or some political thing comes up that makes someone butt hurt. I don't care which side of the aisle your ass is sittin' on. Honestly, you don't get enough of it all day long on radio and TV, you have to bring it here too? This thread wins the prize for complaints. If we don't moderate it, then this place turns into GMFS, a free for all. Most of you seem unable to make good points without throwing some personal insult in or make unnecessary jabs. Yep some good points in some posts have been lost because they got deleted. Again there is a reason the Admins specifically have rules against certain topics. Warnings have been given out and the thread goes out of whack again on a regular basis. Make ya a deal. The thread will stay open through Memorial Day
  16. Oh sure we had some hits on guys who've had it. Guess where they caught it from..... their own families, at home, just before the lock down, according to tracing. About 21 or so. We shut down initially just like everyone else. Then phone started ringing and we were requested to "fill in" providing maintenance and major repair where needed when regular workers failed to be present or when the work was beyond their capability. We assembled the groups of guys. In heavily infected areas we quarantined within our own crews. Rented blocks of rooms. In some areas trailers were used. Hired our own cleaning crews. Had food prepared and brought in. Testing has been on a regular schedule. If anyone even thought they didn't feel right, they stayed out for a few days and then tested. If we were going to get it or give it, it was going to be someone in our group. This is nothing new to many of our group. We've worked all over the world in all kinds of environments, with risk of exposure to other "bugs". We've relaxed things quite a bit over time and are resuming normal operations... back to previous projects that got pushed aside since they were far less critical. Still have be vigilant and follow proper practices.
  17. Last day for this thread since y'all just want to name call and argue BS stuff. This thread has become a broken record, same thing being said over and over again. To what end? So everyone (all 4 or 5 of you) get their last bit of "facts" posted, because end of day thread will be gone and you can quit sitting around in your underwear being a keyboard warrior. For those that want to hide until they can be guaranteed not to get the Covid-19, do so. Those that want to resume a more normal life do so, safely. I've got over 300 guys working in states, at local/state governments requests, that have been on lock down. I bring this up only to point out that NONE of us has gotten the Covid-19 in the last 60 or so days. So you can survive this. So, again, post your facts, alternative facts, news or fake news. Oh and don't report someone, then make the same type of post that you just reported. Edit to add: Thread will stay open until Memorial Day
  18. Ok the timer is running on this thread, thanks to a few members. You're beginning to stray from the topic too often and getting into political bashing and cheering as well as bashing other members. There are plenty of other websites and Facebook pages where you can post some of the things that have been disallowed here. You have no total free speech rights here, read the site rules. Up until now you've been allowed a somewhat long leash without consequences other than having your post removed. Until the thread is closed, warning points and vacations may be handed out as a way to keep the thread alive. This thread was allowed so the members stuck at home could have a way to communicate a bit through this rough period of time as a community, but as always, there has to be a few people that can't or won't follow the rules. This is why we can't have nice things. Threads like these tend to make for bad blood between members going forward, thus why the site policy says "NO" to these threads

  21. That's the guy that was giving his married girlfriend the high-hard-one while he was telling everyone else to stay home. Was ok for him or his girlfriend to travel for their 10 toes up, 10 toes down dickin' sessions. Plus at one point he was infected with C-19 himself
