Uncommanded Locking

This past Saturday I helped my son set up his new hunting camp. He and I made a trip to town for some hardware supplies. Upon returning to his camp we shut the truck off and pulled the keys out of the ignition far enough to keep the alarm from sounding. We took one load into the camp and returned to the truck for the second load. When we reached the truck, the horn sounded, and the truck locked itself. We stood there totally dumbfounded.

Fortunately my wife had her keys with her, but she was at the grocery store at the time and didn't return for about an hour, so no one was playing a prank.

What would cause this truck to lock itself? Has anyone else experienced this situation? If yes, what caused it?

Exact same thing happened to me, Mike. Luckily OnStar was able to unlock to the truck. It never happened again, and to this day I don't know what caused it. I tried to duplicate the problem one day (when I had my extra set of keys) but couldn't do it. I just chalked it up to an electronic gremlin.

i had this happen to me as well. Not sure if theres an autolock feature or something? It was after I washed it and went inside to drink a beer before cleaning the inside...came out and the truck was locked. I was the only one home, and my keys were on top of my entertainment center.

I'd be curious to find out what is causing this. Probably at least 20% or so of the time, I leave mine unlocked in the garage, and I've never had it beep the horn and lock the doors. :D
