heres the problem, my truck died at the boat ramp a week ago. the fuel pump was dead so I changed it out. once i tried to start the truck it did not start. it blew a fuse at some point, so i replaced that. now the truck starts up fine but when i put it in drive it jumps. then when driving there is a loss of power and shifts hard especially going from 1st to 2nd gear. the service engine soon light is now on as well. i was told it could be the map sensor. this is a 2000 silverado 1500 5.3 z71

You need to check for fuel pressure. These trucks are notorious for fuel pumps going out. I've seen several that had similar symptoms to yours. Did the filter seem clogged when you pulled it? Did the gas smell old?
