Leather Stain Removal

I noticed on the titanium colored center back section of my seats that my new black leather belt has lightly caused a stain where it makes contact with the seat. Tried soap and water plus Meguiar's leather cleaner but unfortunately it still visible, not as bad but still so.

Tuff Stuff!

We use it on our light colored leather furniture and it works like a charm.

Do not use Tuff stuff! it will take the color out of the Leather make it look nasty and pale. it will take the Spot out but it will also take the color with it :sigh:

Absolutely untrue. (not a Jab at you Robert)

I have used it for years on leather seats and furniture without any problem. ANY cleaner if used too aggressively can remove color from leather. Use very carefully. It takes a little common sense to use.

put a little alcohol on a cloth and try a small area first. I m guesssing it s leather dye and it s trying to dye your leather seat.

Exactly _ I'll give the alcohol a try before buying another product. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

And like Zembonez said, take it slow and easy until you see how aggressive it will be. Good luck and give us the results.

Mix 1 part of woolite to 6 part of water.

I see you're one with the "Scottwax" method, eh? :D

I use the same, though I add a small amount of oxi-clean and a splash of simple green to the hot water when I do this.... best leather cleaning method, period. I've never met a leather seat I couldn't clean with this stuff, and trust me I've met a LOT of leather seats in 10 years of detailing professionally. :sigh:

Oh, and as for that Tuff Stuff, if you DO decide to use it on leather DO NOT spray the product directly onto the seat. Spray it onto a towel first and THEN apply it lightly to the seat. That will prevent any discoloration, especially if you wipe away the residue right away. Don't let any cleaner dwell for long as it can eat right through the coating on the leather.

If you don't mind my asking, how much is a "small amount" of Oxi-Clean and Simple Green? Say, if you mix up 1 part Woolite, 6 parts water.. how much of the other two would you add?

Thanks! :D

GREAT point. I always spray it on a cloth and work in into it before I touch the leather.

Thanks! :dunno:

I usually mix up about 32 ounces of hot water in a batch, with about 4-5 ounces of Woolite, 1-2 ounce(s) of simple green (literally just a splash... it doesn't take much), and 3-4 tablespoons of the Oxi-Clean powder. I don't really measure it out to that level of precision, but that's a good approximation.

I use this mix to clean leather seats, door panels, dash/consoles, steering wheels, basically everything other than carpet. Works great, in most cases that quantity will be enough to do an entire interior but if it's particularly dirty, it might take two batches. :sigh:
