Dic Keeps Returning To English From Metric

I live in Canada and use the Metric system for mileage, fuel use, etc. I recently purchased a used 2003 Sierra 2500 HD and after some experimentation I managed to get the DIC working the way I want. However, every three or four times that I start the truck, the DIC resets itself to English measurements (gallons instead of litres, miles instead of Kms). In order to get it back I have to reset it using the steering wheel buttons but is never stays. Everything else seems to be working(Lights, perimiter lighting, easy exit seat, etc.) but this one issue really has me baffled.

 

Anyone have any ideas?

Not real sure, never had to deal with this issue as we do not use the metric system. Might have to have the dealer reprogram the cluster using SPS (Service Programming System).
