Light never came but decided to do a scan anyway to see if there were any codes that hadnt been erased. Code p1626. Something about fuel theft deterrent. Can anyone make sense of it?

I realize this is an old topic. But, I had this happen to me today, and had me stumped for 1 1/2 hours. S. it is still of importance to someone out there.

I ran across this site looking for ideas. Fuel pressure was good, spark was good, and as long as the engine was turning over the spark was present. My truck is a 1998 GMC Sierra, 4.3 v6. Pull fuse for the radio, fuse 17 10 amp. With the fuse in, clearing the code meant it came back, disconnecting the battery yielded the same P1626 code. With the fuse pulled, antitheft reset, truck now starts. I have yet to put the fuse back in. Truck ran good yesterday, it rained last night, and there were some lightening strikes close to the house. Rain did not get inside. Not sure what tripped the anti theft.
