8.1 Muffler Which To Choose?

Its time for a new catback exhaust for my truck as my stock one has a a hole and i think i got a manifold leak or it could be the donut but not sure as i can only here it when the engine is cold. Any way i want dual tips either way but not sure what kind of muffler ive researched a bunch on here but really want something not stock but not too loud. I am a hunter and dont want to wake the dead when im driving through the woods at 4am. i just want a little rumble with good flow. I had a 50 series flowmaster on my 94 GMC which sounded nice but not sure how it would compare with the 8.1 I am open for suggestions. Thanks

Magnaflow, it's what you just described as what you wanted. I've had two different flowmaster dual muffler set-ups and they were to loud. This magnaflow is perfect. Sounds like a healthy v8 when you want it too and like stock when you don't.

I called jegs and magnaflow has two dual 3" in dual " out on is slightly smaller 10x8x18 long #642-12469 and a 11x9x22 or 24" long #642-12599 does one of these seem right to you guys, and what do you think would sound better?? bigger or smaller. thanks

I talked to the guys at the custom exhaust shop around here and they told me for what i want would be the magnaflow dual in dual out 24" long and that it will sound good but not too loud and will also have good flow so im thinking of going with that. They told me $475 installed with tips! But my problem is that both of of my manifolds are warped and leaking a little bit so im tryin to find some new ones which im having a really hard time finding for the 8.1L so i may end up getting a set of SS headers from Gibson but those will run about $ 500 for the set so not quite sure what im doing yet.

All 8.1 manifolds are Stainless Steel. They shouldn't warp ever. They're hard to find because not many ever need to be replaced. Also if headers are an option go right ahead as you spend more on new manifolds. Are you sure all of your manifold bolts are in place and tight? A new set of gaskets at least and refurfacing the manifolds at most along with good bolts will fix any 8.1 manifold leaks.

The guy didnt mention them being stainless and i havent checked anything myself as i try to stay away from manidolds as ive had bad luck with them but he said he could tell that the gaskets have been replaced before from seeing the shiny metal gaskets. I will def check for tightness tho cuz i really dont want to spend money on manifolds. Also he told me it is common for these manifolds to warp but he was telling me about his 6.0 doing it so i have no idea. thanks for the info and i will check the bolts today.
