Computer Updates As Fix?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have searched and saw many older topics on the reduced engine power and service engine light. I had this issue on a 2006 Silverado 5.3, which I just purchased and the dealer said they fixed it with an update to the computer. Have others that have had this problem and has had this computer update, tell me if this fixed your problem. I just have a hard time believing that an update will fix this. Most of the other topics were around 2007 and I am just wondering if this issue is resolved. I really don't think this limp home feature is a good one, as a matter of fact I think its pretty dangerous!

Thanks in advance for any input.

There are two things that will cause the reduced engine power, lack of coolant to allow you to drive to get service and throttle control communication. I suspect you have a problem with the throttle control system.
