Engine Ticking Noise

I've got 40K miles on my 2007 6.0 liter and I'm noticing a ticking sound coming from the engine above 2000 rpm. I noticed it first while I was driving normally between shifts. Then I shut the radio off and selected second gear and while driving down the road I could hear the noise. Then I pulled over and put it in park and stepped on the gas to above 2000 rpm and could hear the ticking again. I'd like to think it's not a lifter as I don't hear it at idle, however, I could be wrong. Anyone else have this?

Connecting rod bearing ?....

hehe, let's not jump on the worst... but have you been changing oil frequently ?

Yes, I have been changing the oil. Every time the DIC tells me so. I use Mobil 1 10W-30 with an AC filter.

I checked for the location of the noise using a hose. It seems to be coming from the driver's side on the top of the engine around the valve cover near the firewall.

I would never put in the Lucas, and I mean never, if it could be a lifter you want to clean it not gum it up, when you are going to change the oil, the day before add a quart of ATF, it is almost pure detergent, Do not race the motor, or do towing, drive it normally and change it when you get home the next day, it will remove any sludge in the system. You might want to change the oil a little sooner. Oil is the cheapest overhaul you will not need.

The ticking seems to get worse once the engine heats up. I'll check the manifold bolts today.

I checked the exhaust manifold bolts and they all seem to be intact.
