Camper Selection

So I am gonna start working for Kiewit Texas Construction when I graduate in May, also I am thinking about getting married before I have to leave for Texas or wherever I am going. They say that your first 5-10 years you move around alot and I am prepared for that but I want to get a camper to make life a little easier getting setup from job to job. The bigger jobs I would use it as a place to stay until I can find something more permanent and for the shorter jobs I would probably just live in it. I know it is not the idea situation but it beats the hell out of a motel room. At least this way I would know who has stayed in it before and what not. The camper I am looking at is a Keystone Raptor Velocity 361LEV. It is a 40' outside measured camper with a 12' garage for hauling atvs and what not. I want this so I can take it camping with me and take the ol diesel atv with me. Also I think the garage would be nice because they make it seem like another room of the camper that you can live/relax in.

 

Anyway, to my question/concern. One of the reasons I choose the Raptor was the fact that it has a washer/dryer hookup. But the one that I like does not have it. There is no changing my mind on which one I want because of the layout of this camper. So my question is, would it be possible to plumb in a washer/dryer hookup in this baby?

 

 

If you see the layout, where they normally have the washer/dryer hookup they added a fridge there. What I want to do is just keep that door closed in the garage side, and plumb some water/drain lines up to that area. How hard would it be to tie into the existing system for that?

 

I would appreciate any input anyone could provide on the subject. Thanks

Yes, very easy to plumb in. Just takes some plastic water line and some drains. I wouldn't be afraid to try it. Your biggest concern should be how to make sure they don't move during travel. Does this trailer have underbelly insulation? Something to consider if your going where it's cold.

Yes, it has the "arctic package" so the whole underside is covered with some kind of material. I am not sure what kind it is though. I would just strap it to the wall during travel to keep it from moving.

So I talked to a dealer today and he said that for this camper it is a common custom upgrade that they do. Alot of people like this camper model and most of them want a washer/dryer hookup. He said it would be somewhere around 600 bucks with labor and materials plus I would still need to by the washer/dryer.

I would think you could do it yourself for 1/3rd that price but if you don't want the headache, then

The headache I could do without but the cheap ass in me says do it yourself. Then I would know exactly how it was installed, which exactly why I would do it.
