Ok, as stated before i have a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with RPOs;

It's got 19.301 miles on it and a few days ago i parked the truck since it started leaking transmission fluid.

The truck is no longer under warranty i suppose, what could be leaking, the leak is coming from between the transmission and transfer case.

I didn't notice this until i felt a slip in the transmission after pulling to a stop on a red light. And i had to fill up 5 liters of Transmission fluid.

Where can i get a overview picture of the transmission/transfer case assembly?

Sounds like the rear seal on the tail housing has gone out, you might have an overfull transfer case too.

mine did the same thing. was at the dealer 3 times. Come to find out the adapter that goes in between the tranny and transfer case split a harline crack. It leaked bad under a load. Check that out, they replaced 2 seals and it wasnt it. Its hard to get to but try to make sure its clean and look for a crack on the adapter. If its not cracked, its the tailshaft seal if its leaks in between the tranny and transfer case. The gasket is also only a paper gasket to keep dirt out. I woudl start at teh adapter

If it's a 4X4 it could be the transfer case has a hole in it from the transfer case pump rubbing through. It happened on my 2004 2500HD at 60,000 miles. Here are some pictures;

It cost me about $650 to replace the transfer case rear half and add a case saver.

Would a hole in the transfer case explain a loss of transmission fluid ?

I had to add 5 liters...

How hard is it to replace the seal or tail housing, and how much are they ?

I should have rear you ENTIRE post. The tranny and transfer case are sealed from each other, so my solution will not work.

Could you snap a picture of where it is leaking?

i'll try to snap one when i get to my truck tomorrrow...

but when i looked under it, the leftovers of the paper gasket between the tranny and transfer case are just hanging out and that's where the oil is coming from...
