Thnking Of New Tires

So it turns out that shortly before I bought my '06 last week, new tires were put on. I believe the dealer said that they installed them. They are Uniroyal Loredo Cross Country P265/70-R17. They still measure 13/32 of tread depth - that's the listed "new" tread depth, so needless to say, they are in great shape.

I am looking to go to a BFG All-Terrain TA LT265/70-R17. I have run these BFG's on my previous Pathfinder 4wd and on my 2wd Silverado - I love the look and the extra traction in 4wd.

I've spoken to a tire shop that sells both and they said they would be willing to take the Loredo's in trade - maybe $70 to $100 per tire (they want $280 per tire for the BFGs), but I'm wondering if I'd be better off trying to sell them privately. BTW, these are Canadian prices.

So does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks guys,

I think I'll take the truck in tomorrow after work and see what the tire shop will give me for a trade. Unfortunately, their price on the BFG's is about $40 more per tire than Costco (where I usually buy my tires), but if they take the trades, it saves me having to find a buyer.

I'll let you know how I make out.

I think I am going with these..... http://www.treadepot.com/tire/2004513

I wanted these, but the Kumho's are cheaper... http://www.treadepot.com/tire/04569480000

Yeah, those grabbers are a nice looking tire - very similar to the BFG All-Terrain TA's. I'd just like to have LTs on mine cause we do hawl a trailer and I use the box quite a bit as well, so the extra load rating will be good.

Hello GMCanuck ...

... depending on where you live you should be able to sell those almost new Uniroyal take-offs for $100 each ... try listing them on www.kijiji.ca and select whatever city you live in....

..... then you can go and find a nice set of TOYO OPEN COUNTRY AT in 8-ply or 10-ply rating LT's.... :P

They come in an LT "E" load range as well.... http://www.treadepot.com/tire/04564990000

I bought a set of Kumho A/T tires for my 99 a couple yrs ago from Tirerack. They were Load Range E. The damn truck felt like it was wallowing all over the road. The steering felt like it wasn't turning the tires. I really felt the truck was unsafe on the freeway. I complained to Tirerack and it cost me some money, but I returned the tires. Kumho tires - Never again.
