Ghost Door Locking

Recommended Posts

Thank God I have OnStar:

Has anyone else experienced this? 2007 Silverado LT. I have had it for nearly 2 years now, and over that period of time I have been locked out of it about 8 times. Mostly in my own damn garage.

Here's what happens: I get out, leave the key in the ignition (pulled out far enough to prevent the dinger from sounding) I walk 2 or 3 steps to the house and BONK the horn blows for a millisecond and the doors lock.

I know I should not leave the keys in it but I do. I figure locked in my garage I should be okay ya know. Anyway, this has happened hopping out to hook up the boat, running in to the feed store etc... It doesn't always do this...just SOMETIMES... I cannot for the life of me figure out what is making it do this? Am I inadvertently hitting the lock button on the door when I get out? Is the key fob getting hit by a key?

I dunno but when it happens it drives me nuts

Anybody else experience this?

Last night at the gas station. I finished putting gas in and the door was locked. Key in ignition. Luckily my window was open. Don't know why this happened, don't have key fobs or alarm, just electric door locks. I'm going where Onstar won't work. Going to get an extra key and put a hide a key someplace. TODAY.

If you are accidentally hitting the lock button..it will do EXACTLY what you are describing.

(I have done that EXACT SAME THING):(

Other than that happening...I don't have a clue.

Here is what is going on, key is in the ignition and doors unlocked you open the door of the vehicle and then close it the security picks this up through the key resistor and the key in the ignition and locks the doors to prevent theft of the vehicle because the key is still in the ignition.

I don't have security. Maybe I just leaned on the button through the open window while I was fueling. I can't duplicate the incident. The auto lock delay gives three chimes when you use that, and it's disabled with the key in the ignition....like the op said; ghosts.

I just put the keys in my pocket; that way no one breaks into the garage and steals the truck, and no one jumps in the truck while fueling and steals the truck.
